The Da Nang chapter of the National Steering Committee 389 on Anti-smuggling, Counterfeit Goods and Trade Fraud said, in the first half of 2022, handled 1,028 cases of smuggling, commercial fraud and the trade in counterfeit goods, a decrease of 22.4% as compared to the same period last year.

A total of more than VND97 billion in fines were levied on 976 cases, up 9% over the year-ago period.
According to the assessment made by the Steering Committee 389, in the coming time, the situation of smuggling, the trade in counterfeit goods and the illegal transportation of goods and currency across borders, and commercial fraud will continue to take place with more sophisticated methods and tricks used.

The Da Nang competent authorities, therefore, need to strengthen mutual coordination and information sharing to firmly grasp the practical situations, develop measures and plans to strictly handle cases of trafficking in smuggled, counterfeit and imitated and poor-quality goods.

At the same time, heed should be paid to raising public awareness of the harmful effects of illegal business acts, regularly organising training classes and improving professional skills for the team working to fight against contraband, counterfeit and poor-quality goods, especially for new fields such as e-commerce.

In addition, the city will promote the campaign ‘Vietnamese people give priority to consuming Vietnamese goods’ to contribute to creating positive changes in consumers' shopping behaviour and habits in the city, and promoting domestically-made products to domestic and foreign tourists in particular.
