Da Nang has registered an impressive growth in the economy for the first five months of 2022 with its main sectors namely services and industry posting stronger growth compared with the same period last year, according to the Da Nang General Statistics Office.

Production output increased by 3% over the same period a year ago, rises of 3.3% in manufacturing, 6.1% in electricity and 1.4% in water supply and sewerage were partially offset by a fall of 27.9% in mining and quarrying.

Retail sales in the city rose by 10.8% over the year-ago period to reach an estimated VND 40,039 billion. Most notably, the retail sales of goods were estimated at VND 25,953 billion, up 6.3% over the same period in 2021, of which, eight out of eleven categories posted a significant increase in sales revenue compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, wholesalers sold an estimated nearly VND 62,000 billion worth of goods, up 8.5%.

In addition, there was a noticeable rebound in sales of other services. During the five-month period, the revenue of transport services along with postal and courier activities in the city amounted to an estimated VND 9,058 billion, up 19.1%  compared with the same period last year. In detail, the revenue from road and rail transport reached VND 3,118 billion, up 5.7%, waterways with VND 32.6 billion, up 3.2%, aviation with VND 2,279 billion, up 88.9%, warehousing and logistics services with VND 3,192 billion, up 6%, postal and courier activities with VND 435.8 billion, up 8%.
