Da Nang's GRDP in the first half of 2022 estimated to go up by 7.23% from same period in 2021
The Da Nang Statistics Department on Wednesday announced the city's socio-economic development figures in the first half of 2022.

In detail, the city's GRDP (gross regional domestic product) in the first half of 2022 is estimated to have increased by 7.23% over the same period in 2021, an increase of 12.36% as compared to the same period in 2020.
Especially, as compared to the first half of 2019 - the time before the COVID-19 outbreak, GRDP in the first half of 2022 soared up by 7.92%.
Da Nang ranked 28th out of the total 63 provinces and cities in terms of GRDP growth.
In the growth rate of 7.23% of the whole economy in the past 6 months, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector went up by 2.02% from the same period in 2021, contributing 0.04 percentage points to the overall growth; the industry and construction sector up by 2.37%, contributing 0.49 points; the service sector up by 9.82%, contributing 6.5 points and the taxes less subsidies on products up by 1.78%, contributing 0.2 points.
The size of the city's economy in the past 6 months at current prices is estimated at more than VND57,792 billion, expanding by more than VND 5,077 billion over the same period in 2021.
Compared to the same period in 2019, the scale of the city's economy has climbed up by nearly VND6,490 billion, of which the scale of service sector expanded by nearly VND6,098 billion.
With regard to the structure of the economy in the first half, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounted for 2.16%, industry and construction 19.9%, service sector 67.44% and taxes levied on products 10.5%.
In general, the structure of the economy has changed over the same period in 2021, the industrial sector continued to shrink in size, the proportion of industry decreased from 14.79% to 14.23% whereas the service sector continued to expand from 64.96% to 67.61%.
With the above-mentioned results, Da Nang ranked 2nd in terms of scale and growth rate of GRDP among the total 5 provinces and cities in the Central Key Economic Zone.
The total State budget revenue, as of June 20, reached VND12,965 billion, up 18.9% over the same period in 2021 with the national budget revenue reaching VND3,666 billion and the municipal budget revenue hitting VND9,299 billion.
Of the total State budget revenue, domestic revenue shown positive signs, going up by 19.1% over the same period in 2021, equivalent to VND10,186 billion.
Balanced income from import and export activities in the city climbed by 19.8% over the same period in 2021, equivalent to VND2,569 billion.
The total State budget expenditure in the preliminary area, as of June 20, reached VND12,206 billion, equaling 80.4% over the same period in 2021.
Also in the first half of this year, a sum of 2,257 new enterprises and affiliated units registered for their operation in the city with a total registered capital of VND13,007 billion, up by 7.1% and 14.5% in the number of enterprises and the registered capital, respectively.
The total investment capital in the whole society reached an estimated VND17,470 billion, up 3.9% compared to the same period in 2021. Of this, capital implemented by the State sector accounted for 21%, up 23.9% over the same period last year; non-state capital with 62.3%, up 19.4%; the foreign direct investment (FDI) sector with 16.7%, up 1.6%.
The ratio of investment capital to GRDP in the first half is estimated at 30.2%.
The total import and export turnover of goods was estimated at US$1,728 million, up 16.4% over the year-ago period. In detail, the export turnover hit US$1,026 million, up 23.2% whilst the import turnover reached US$702 million, up 7.7% over the same period in 2021.
The consumer price index (CPI) in the first half of 2022 is still well controlled with an average increase of 1.91%. This is the lowest 6-month average increase since 2018.
Director of Statistical Department Tran Van Vu said that the city's socio-economic situation has prospered in many fields since the end of the first quarter of 2022. Some industries have recorded higher growth rates than before the COVID-19 pandemic appeared.
In a great effort to remove difficulties, the city needs to continue to take solutions to support and stabilize production and business activities in the second half of this year.
Specifically, importance should be attached to restoring tourism activities on the basis of ensuring safety for visitors, employees and the community as a whole; promoting trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand for domestically produced products; implementing sales promotion programmes at the year-end time.
For the manufacturing sector, it is necessary to effectively implement support policies directly related to the development of industry and handicrafts, actively support small and medium-sized enterprises, private production facilities to innovate technology, implement digital transformation and develop smart production methods.
In the field of investment, focus should be on speeding up the progress of compensation and clearance in accordance with the construction progress.
