Da Nang ranks fifth in nation for per capita income
The ranking came from a study by the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam (GSO).
Da Nang is up one place in Viet Nam’s per capita income rankings for 2021. The city has moved up to fifth place in Viet Nam in terms of per capita income behind Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, and Dong Nai, according to the results of GSO’s survey on the Viet Nam Household Living Standards in 2021.
Da Nang’s per capita income in 2021 stood at VND 5.23 million. The city also topped North Central Coast and Central Coast region in the 2021 rankings in terms of per capita income.
In Da Nang, wages from employment is the major contributor to household income, contributing 61.8% to sources of household income. Earnings from non-farm self-employment is the second major contributor to household income with 24.6%, followed by income from rent, remittances and other sources with 12.3%. Income from household agriculture, forests and fisheries contributes 1.2% to household income.
Viet Nam Living Standards Survey focussed on the household as the key socio-economic unit and provides valuable information on the living conditions and well-being of households in Viet Nam.
The survey covered a nationally representative sample of 47,000 households in 63 Vietnamese localities. Detailed information was collected on the demographic characteristics of households, education, health, employment, housing conditions, household expenditure, income and their components, possession of consumer durable goods and socio-economic characteristics.
The questionnaire survey aims to help national government’s relevant agencies assess household-based multidimensional poverty across the entire population using the individual as a unit.
