Despite many difficulties in raw material supplies, plus high input costs due to a surge in gasoline prices, the country’s industry and trade sector achieved positive results in the first half of the year thanks to its flexible solutions.

The growth rate of the total added value of the industry was 8.48%, much higher than the general growth rate of the whole economy.

The total import-export turnover was estimated at more than US$371 billion, and the export turnover increased by 17.3% over the same period last year.

Notably, Da Nang is one of the localities to record a relatively fast economic recovery. Particularly, the growth rate of the city’s industry was 2.73%, whilst that of trade 5.9%. The city’s export turnover was estimated at over US$1 billion, up 20.8% against 2021.

The information was released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade at its Thursday meeting to review its performance in the first six months of the year and identify its tasks for the remaining months.

During the event, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed groups of solutions for the last months of the year.

Specifically, the focus will be on promoting synchronous, drastic and effective implementation of key tasks of the industry and economic recovery programme, as well as helping enterprises remove difficulties in order to drive their post-pandemic production recovery, especially seeking domestic sources of raw materials and fuel to replace imported ones.

Special attention will be paid to taking drastic solutions to curb inflation, stabilise stabilise the supply-demand balance and market prices, and taking advantage of commitments in signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

Heed will be on simplifying administrative procedures, creating favourable conditions for investment, production and business activities, and promoting the application of information technology.
