In the first half of the year, Da Nang’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) rose by 7.23% over the same period in 2021. In particular, the service sector went up by 9.8%, and the industry and construction sector up by 2.37%. This is considered as the motivation for the city's economy to change from recovery to restoring high growth for the rest of the year.

Striving for high economic growth

In his remarks at the recent meeting to announce the city’s socio -economic development results in the first 6 months of 2022, Director of the Da Nang Statistical Department Tran Van Vu said that right from the beginning of 2022, the municipal authorities focuses on taking support solutions for local businesses, restoring economic sector, and implementing social welfare policies, creating a motivation for the city's economic growth.

According to the Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment Tran Thi Thanh Tam, the city's economic development situation in the last 6 months of the year has many advantages according to the growth scenario.

The Department has made some suggestions to the municipal authorities about a number of solutions to promote the development of the city’s economy. Included are supporting and maintaining production and business stability, speeding up the implementation and disbursement of public investment plans in 2022, well implementing planning and urban management work, and improving investment and business environment to promote investment attraction.

Similarly, the Executive Board of the city’s Party Committee has taken a number of drastic solutions to promote economic development, especially for key economic sectors which have made great contributions to the growth of the city's GRDP.

Particularly, efforts will be made to achieve the highest GRDP growth in 2022, disburse public investment capital, and complete 100% of the year’s plans.

Importance will be attached to removing difficulties and obstacles and expediting the construction progress of dynamic and key projects, as well as grouping construction works to be completed during the year such the western ring road from National Highway 14B to Ho Chi Minh Road, DH2 and DT601 routes, Tuyen Son - Tuy Loan riverside road, Software Park No. 2, and some wastewater treatment and collection plants.

Speaking at the meeting with the Economic - Budget Board of the municipal People's Council on June 30, Director Tam revealed that her unit would advise the local authorities to accelerate the completion of a number of important policies which are considered as motivation for the city's economic development.

Also, the department will ask for approval from the competent authorities for a project on establishing non -tariff area, as well as submit resolutions on policies to support the development of typical products and the efficient use of energy to the municipal People's Council for consideration.

Top priority will be given to advising the municipal People's Committee to complete and implement a digital transformation project, as well as seeking Prime Minister’s approval for projects on expanding the Da Nang Dedicated Information Technology Park and the Software Park No. 2.

The municipal People's Committee will submit the city’s Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 to Prime Minister for approval, and submit documents on architectural management regulations, and housing and urban development programme adjustments for the 2021-2030 period to the municipal People’s Council.

Efforts to support businesses to recover production

Currently, the city is continuing to propose and implement some policies to support local businesses to drive their production and business restoration.

The focus is on deploying bidding procedures to select investors for implementing technical infrastructure at the 2^nd stage of Hoa Cam Industrial Park project in the fourth quarter of 2022, and the Hoa Nhon industrial cluster, as well as putting Cam Le industrial cluster into operation.

In the field of tourism, the city will pay a heed to effectively exploiting the Da Nang-Ly Son inland waterway route, and popularising paragliding services and underwater entertainment activities in Son Tra Peninsula, and Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa beach area.

Many tourism stimulus programmes, and tourism marketing campaigns, will be launched in the remaining months of the year.

With regard to the field of transportation, the city will proactively coordinate with the Ministry of Transport to resume international routes, and accelerate the handling of investment procedures for construction, renovation and upgrade of National Highway 14B, Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan Expressway and Lien Chieu Port.

Regarding the field of natural resources and environment, the city will pay special attention to completing the creation of a reasonable land auction process, as well as giving active support for land users during the handling of land-related investment and construction procedures.
