Resolutely withdrawing projects falling further behind schedule
The Government Office has sent an official dispatch conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Le Van Thanh requesting the resolute withdrawal of the projects that have fallen further behind schedule as well as the timely handling of 'foot-dragging' planning and projects.
The official dispatch states that, in order to synchronously implement solutions to overcome shortcomings and limitations related to stagnant planning and projects, the administration of centrally-governed cities and provinces shall promptly adjust or cancel the planning that is overdue and unfeasible, urge implementation progress and resolutely withdraw projects that are far behind schedule.
Other compulsory tasks are to formulate plans for carrying out and widely publicising in accordance with regulations; make medium-term and annual investment plans, including investment in urban infrastructure.
Also, formulating programmes on urban areas and urban development zones, and strictly controlling the speed and quality of urban development should be taken into account.
The Ministry of Construction shall assume the prime responsibility and work with other ministries and localities in reviewing and handling projects, especially stagnant ones.
In addition, the quality of appraisal and approval of planning and projects must be enhanced in order to promote efficiency and ensure land resources available for socio-economic development.
