A seminar took place in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) on Friday with a mission of introducing Da Nang’s investment environment of Da Nang towards overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in both face-to-face and online forms.

At the HCMC broadcast point, there was the attendance of Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh, the Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs in HCMC Phung Cong Dung and nearly 100 overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs in HCMC and Da Nang.

Present at the broadcast point in Ha Noi were Mr. Ngo Huong Nam, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and nearly 100 delegates from overseas business associations and businesses from 19 countries and territories, including the U.S., Canada, Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, England, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Hungary, Thailand and Mongolia.

Addressing the seminar, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh affirmed the interest and attachment of the OV community to the development of Viet Nam and Da Nang in particular.

Through this event, Da Nang had the opportunity to share a lot of information about its investment environment, policies and aspects calling for investment flows to businessmen and the leaders of business associations, overseas intellectuals in other countries.

Over the past years, Da Nang has gradually mobilised OV experts and intellectuals to participate in programmes and projects in many fields; acting as a bridge to promote international cooperation and develop friendly relationships between the city and foreign localities.

In order to contribute to attracting more investment from OVs, Da Nang has worked closely with overseas business delegations that want to learn more about the city’s investment environment, in tandem with connecting Da Nang businessmen with overseas ones and taking advantage of great support from OVs to organise domestic and foreign investment promotion events.

Also, the publicity of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and the city's investment attraction orientations to the OV community has been effectively implemented.

Investment from OVs channelled intoDa Nang tends to increase and the scale of projects is increasingly expanding, hereby making important contributions to the city's socio-economic development; at the same time affirming the confidence of OVs in the guidelines and policies of the Party and State and the great efforts and companionship of the Da Nang government.

Actually, the number of OVs-invested projects in Da Nang is still not commensurate with the potential and strengths of the city and the growth of the OV community.

Vice Chairman Minh, therefore, emphasised that Da Nang has always highly appreciated the enthusiastic comments made by businessmen and overseas intellectuals, including ideas on attracting investment from the OV community and ways to beef up cooperation relationship between Da Nang and foreign localities.

Especially, the city is still in need of constructive recommendations to help it improve the investment and business environment as well as strengthen the information dissemination to the OV community. This is the basis for the city to propose solutions to effectively promote the role of the overseas Vietnamese community in investment attraction into the city.
