East-West Economic Corridor int'l fair opens in Da Nang

The International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair 2022 opened in Da Nang on Wednesday evening. The event is taking place at the International Exhibition Fair Centre, 9 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, and it will run through August 8. It opens daily at 8:30 am and closes at 10:00 pm.

Also present at the opening ceremony of the EWEC int'l fair were Secretary and Governor of Savannakhet Province Santiphap Phomvihane, representatives of the Consulate General of Japan and Laos in Da Nang, along with Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, and municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son.

In his remarks at the event, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that Da Nang is honoured to be chosen to host the EWEC Corridor int'l fair by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. He highlighted the significance of this international event in strengthening friendly cooperation, enhance mutual understanding and trust among countries along the EWEC Corridor to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Laos, the 45th  anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.

This year’s event features 419 booths of 235 foreign and domestic businesses.

The fair showcases various tourism, trade and investment products such as electrical, electronic and IT products, processed food, wood products, home accessories, leather footwear, apparel, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, along with restaurant and hotel services.

Within the framework of the festival, there are various activities to provide practical support to participating businesses. Included are a forum on boosting the development of logistics service on EWEC, a festival to introduce Quang Nam Province’s One Commune-One Product (OCOP), a seminar to seek best ways to remove difficulties in rural industrial establishments during and after COVID-19, and a conference of connecting supply and demand of goods between Da Nang and other parts of the country.

The EWEC Corridor int'l fair was established as an annual event in 2007, and it provides the opportunity for localities along the EWEC Corridor plus foreign countries and its localities and international organizations that have established diplomatic relations with Da Nang to introduce their potential, strengths and cooperation opportunities to businesses, tourists, people in the city and other localities in Central Viet Nam. The fair has gained the trust of participating businesses and international organizations, and its participation numbers have gradually increased every year.
