Da Nang promotes its destination in Japan

The Da Nang Department of Tourism on Wednesday worked with the Mikazuki Hotel Group to promote the city’s tourism in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The focus was on introducing the city’s open-door policy for tourism, seeking cooperation with Japanese partners, as well as introducing the city’s new tourism products.

The event saw the presence of Mr Nguyen Duc Minh, the Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador to Japan, Mr Yoshikuni Watanabe, the Mayor of Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, along with representatives of tour operators and media agencies in Japan, plus those from 8 tourism businesses in Central Viet Nam.

Vietnamese Ambassador  Nguyen Duc Minh applauded Da Nang and all the relevant stakeholders for their great efforts to conduct the tourism promotion program in Japan in a bid to proactively adapt to a new, post-COVID world as well as drive tourism recovery from the COVID-19 crisis with the city’s determination of boosting cooperation for tourism development.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh said that the bilateral relationship between Viet Nam and Japan is at the finest development stage. He, therefore, highlighted the importance of Da Nang’s tourism promotion program in Japan  in  meeting the interests and expectations of the governments and businesses in the two countries.

Mrs Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism affimed that Japan is one of the five key international markets of Da Nang and tourism exchange provides the opportunity for Da Nang and Japanese localities to promote cultural and economic exchanges and foster cooperation and friendship between them.

Mrs Hanh remarked that Da Nang’s tourism promotion program in Japan aimed to seek Japanese tourism partners and provide information about the city’s positive open-door policy for foreign visitors in 2022.

Mr. Yoshikuni Watanabe, the Mayor of Kisarazu City expressed his hope that the bilateral ties with Da Nang will be continued to foster. He visited Da Nang to enter into a written agreement to develop ties of friendship and cooperation between the two cities in July 2019.

Da Nang’s tourism promotion program in Kisarazu City is its first-ever tourism event to be held in this Japanese city since the Da Nang - Kisarazu City cooperation agreement was signed in 2019.

It is known that the number of Japanese visitors to Da Nang has grown steadily. In 2019, Japanese visitor arrivals in Da Nang reached over 183,000 compared with 92,021 in 2015, up 198.9%.

Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese people travelling to Japan through the Da Nang International Airport hit over 127,000 in 2019, accounting for 3% of the total number of Vietnamese travellers to foreign countries.
