Vietnamese people enjoy a four-day break from Sep. 1 to 4 during this year's National Day celebrations, with many people having time to leave major cities for home or popular tourist destinations. And, air travel is one of means of transportation preferred by many people.

As recorded at Da Nang International Airport on Thursday morning, the number of air passengers to Da Nang is higher than normal days as forecasted. Just on the morning, there were dozens of flights to and from Da Nang.

Faced with the increasing number of air passengers, the Da Nang International Airport also recommends that passengers arrange travel time and conduct online check-in before arriving at the terminal to avoid congestion.

Currently, domestic airlines have added more flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi to Da Nang to satisfy the high demand from passengers during the National Day holiday.

Between August 31 and September 4, Da Nang is expected to welcome 436 domestic flights carrying 47,000 passengers in total and 95 international flights with about 13,300 passengers.

In particular, Vietnam Airlines has added new flights between Da Nang and the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur starting from September 1 as well as will resume its flights between Da Nang and the capital of Thailand, Bangkok from September 15. Flights between Da Nang and Kuala Lumpur will operate 4 times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays while the national carrier will operate one daily flights between Da Nang and Bangkok.

At the city’s Railway Station, there is a significant increase in the number of train passengers compared on weekdays.

During this holiday, the railway industry runs more trains from the North to the South in general, to and from Da Nang in particular, in a bid to serve passengers with an increase of nearly 100,000 train tickets, with a focus on the Ha Noi - Da Nang and Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City routes.

According to the municipal Department of Tourism, the visitor numbers in Da Nang during the four-day break holiday are likely to rise by about 38% compared to 2019.

Currently, the room occupancy rates at resorts reach 90%, and at hotels in downtown areas about 40-45%.

Contrary to the crowd at the airport and the railway station, the city’s inter-provincial coach station is witnessing low passenger numbers.

According to General Director of the Da Nang Inter-Provincial Coach Station Management JSC Pham Loi, the number of road passengers during the holiday is expected to increase by 20-30% compared to weekdays, so his unit has mobilised 100% of the existing coaches to meet the growing travel needs of passengers.

In order to well serve the travel needs, and ensure the traffic safety, of locals and tourists, the city's transportation sector has been implementing numerous plans.

Accordingly, the Department requires fixed-route passenger transport businesses not to arbitrarily raise ticket prices, not to carry more than the specified number of people, and to strictly abide by the Road Traffic Law.

Also, taxis must be safe and clean, and ensure the technical and artistic quality as registered when being put into service.

At the same time, taxi drivers have been required to strictly observe the national Road Traffic Law, and forbidden to refuse passengers at airports, train stations and bus stations who travel for a short distance.

If the number of customers increases dramatically from time to time, the switchboards of taxi companies are not allowed to give customers a promise as the unit cannot arrange vehicles. Simultaneously, the focus should be on promptly correct taxi drivers violating the Road Traffic Law and the rules of taxi passenger transport.
