Promoting cooperation in tourism

On the afternoon of September 28, Da Nang coordinated with the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Mumbai, and some Indian partners, to organise meetings with Indian businesses.

Notably, an investment promotion seminar with the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) held in Mumbai attracted the participation of more than 100 businesses and investors in various spheres.

During the event, Vice Chairman Son informed the attendees about the city’s socio-economic situation and development orientations. Many Indian businesses showed their special interest in Da Nang which was well-known as a tourist destination with many unique features in terms of culture, cuisine, experience, sea tourism, ecotourism, and wedding tourism.

He expressed his hope that visa procedures for tourists should be more open to lure more Indian visitors to the city.

Meanwhile, some Indian businesses showed their keen interest in the city’s tourism ecosystem for Indian tourists, wishing local authorities to create more favourable conditions for them to open Indian-style restaurants in Da Nang in service of Indian tourists.

Vice Chairman Son said that over the past time, the city has worked with airlines to promote the opening of direct flights to Da Nang from India, especially after the Routes Asia in June 2022.

He expected that Vietjet Air’s opening of the two first direct air routes linking Da Nang to India’s largest and most important cities of Mumbai and New Delhi in October will create favourable conditions for both sides to boost tourism.

Also on the same day, the Da Nang delegation worked with some Indian companies specializing in organizing events.

Mr. Satish Ramnani, Director of the India-based Veydaa Events Company, remarked that his company is coordinating with some partners in Viet Nam to prepare for the wedding ceremony of the Indian billionaire family at a resort in Da Nang for about 450 invited guests in January 2023.

Similarly, the Global Aviation Services Company (GAS) is also promoting a wedding in Da Nang for an Indian billionaire family also in January 2023.

In addition to the field of tourism, Indian businesses paid special attention to investing into the city in such spheres as trade, import and export, and logistics. Therefore, the city’s leader informed Indian businesses about projects appealing for investment, investment procedures in Da Nang, and preferential policies for foreign investors into the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park.

On the morning of September 30, the Da Nang delegation arrived in Bangalore and had a working session with Infosys, India's leading information technology group.

During his reception for the Da Nang visitors, Mr. Sushanth Tharapan, Vice President of Infosys Group, introduced to the members of the delegation about the development history of the corporation over the past 4 decades.

In reply, Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son emphasised the comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and India, and the interest of the Vietnamese government, especially Da Nang, in the IT industry and digital transformation for the digital economy.

The two sides together discussed the potential for cooperation promotion in the coming time, especially in the field of digital finance serving the model of an International Financial Centre.

Currently, Da Nang is developing policies to support investors and businesses operating in information technology parks in the city, with the goal of building specific mechanisms and policies to encourage both domestic and foreign businesses to invest and operate in centralized IT parks and software parks citywide.

Mr. Son hoped that the Infosys Group will visit and seek investment opportunities in Da Nang, especially promote cooperation in human resource training with the University of Da Nang, in the near future.

Mr. Sushanth Tharapan expressed his impression on Da Nang's IT development and digital transformation in recent years. He suggested the two sides jointly explore investment cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of software production, digital finance, and digital banking.

He affirmed that Infosys will visit Da Nang in the coming time to work with partners, businesses, and training institutions, including the University of Da Nang, to explore cooperation opportunities in human resource training.
