Through fairs and exhibitions and programmes bringing Vietnamese goods to the countryside, businesses have the opportunity to survey people's consumption needs, search for markets, open more branches, expand their product consumption networks and booster cooperation in production and business development.

Also, these aforementioned events serve as a bridge to promote a culture of consumption of Vietnamese goods, honour Vietnamese brands, connect businesses with the domestic market, gear up production and sales of goods that are suitable for people's tastes at competitive prices as compared to foreign items, thereby contributing to the elimination of counterfeit, imitation and poor-quality goods.

Opportunities for small-scale business establishments

The Tam Nguyen ginger tea product by the Tam Nguyen family-run business household in Hoa Quy Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District was recognised with 3-star OCOP (One Commune - One Product) in 2021. Since then, the company has continuously brought products to fairs inside and outside Da Nang for introduction and sales.

Ms. Huynh Thi Hoa, the representative of Tam Nguyen ginger tea establishment said, "As a small-sized family-run business, the marketing and promotion of our products is still weak. Since being recognised as OCOP products, every time there was any fair, the local authorities always facilitated us to participate in such a highly practical event. Through each fair, we attracted new orders, expanded distribution agents not only in the city but also in neighbouring provinces and cities”.

The Moc Moc establishment trading in herbal products locate Cam Le District has just been present on the domestic market for less than 2 years. The establishment's products include shampoo, hair conditioner and essence, aloe vera gel, turmeric and shower gel.

Ms. Dang Thi Viet Ha, the business owner shared: “Moc Moc is a small-sized family-run business, so it faces many difficulties when developing products. Currently, each month, we sell 150 bottles/product. Although very confident in the production process with all products being handmade or the combination of heating and fermentation methods, which helps to preserve products as well as contribute to a clean environment, our marketing orientation is still limited. Therefore, I look forward to participating in fairs and exhibitions to directly provide product information to a large number of customers, thereby receiving customer feedback through such exchanges. In particular, the fairs often have the participation of large distributors and agents, which allows us to find it easier to promote our products to easy- to-reach-customer modern distribution channels”.

As reported by the Da Nang Centre for Industry and Trade Promotion, this year, through connectionprogrammes, 24 out of the 40 OCOP products have been put into modern distribution channels and 8 product groups development by 6 enterprises have been put on shelves at 5 large supermarkets and trade centre in the city.

Gearing up promoting Vietnamese goods

Since 2010, the Da Nang Vietnamese Goods Fair has become an annual and prestigious trade promotion event for businesses nationwide, consumers in Da Nang and neighbouring localities. In reality, it is dubbed as a rendezvous  for manufacturing enterprises and the suppliers of OCOP products, typical rural industrial products and other regional specialities, contributing to building consumer culture and Vietnamese people's trust in Vietnamese goods. The fact is that, through fairs and exhibitions, businesses' goods and local products are better known to consumers in Viet Nam and abroad.

Also, this is also an opportunity for manufacturers to leave a mark on their product and service brands in the minds of consumers. On the other hand, consumers find it easy to choose goods based on quality, design and price criteria as well as receive  detail consultancy about products. In particular,  they can try using products right at fair and then provide feedback directly to the manufacturer for better product adjustments if any.

Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Huu Hanh said that, through fairs, businesses and manufacturers have the opportunity to exchange and connect with consumers, thus contributing to prompting enterprises to improvethe quality and development of products and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the context of deeper international economic integration.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Dung, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Farmers' Union, fairs help actively respond to the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese products” landmark campaign.
Besides, many businesses have signed contracts, received orders from fairs. Also, fairs not only help them find more customers but also learn from other about how to  effectively harvest, preserve, process and package agricultural products and food.

After the fair, many businesses usually have deals with distributors and enter  specific contracts to promote production, sales and exports.
