The Da Nang government in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade organised a supporting industry connection conference in Da Nang on Friday. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, and Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, made their attendance at the event.

The conference attracted nearly 400 delegates, including those from over 100 supporting industry enterprises. Around 50 enterprises registered to display and introduce supporting industry products in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics, and automobile and packaging manufacturing and assembly.

In his remarks at the conference, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that over the years, the city has issued and implemented many guidelines and policies to develop supporting industries into one of the three pillars of the city's industry sector in addition to hi-tech and information technology industries.

In addition, the city has given top priority to creating highly competitive supporting industry products, including components, spare parts, materials, specialised supporting equipment, software and essential services.

Besides, the city has made every effort to attract a number of multinational companies to invest in Da Nang to transfer technology, use intermediate products and have a spillover effect on the development of supporting industries.

Mr. Minh hoped that the results of the conference will not only stop at the signing of the memoranda of understanding, but through the conference, participating businesses will continue to learn more deeply and fully for the further effective cooperation and connection.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that in Viet Nam, the processing and manufacturing industry has received the special attention from the Party, government and authorities at all levels.

Specifically, the processing and manufacturing industry is identified as the centre, whilst smart manufacturing industry development is a breakthrough for the country.

At the conference, 4 businesses entered into memoranda of understanding on promoting cooperation in supporting industries.

The country set a target that the proportion of industry in GDP will reach more than 40%, and that of processing and manufacturing industry in GDP will be about 30% by 2030.

The Government's Resolution 115 also states that the supporting industry is of great significance to the economic restructuring towards industrialisation and modernisation.

The Da Nang Supporting Industry Connection Conference 2022 aims to boost closer linkage between enterprises producing supporting industry products in the city, and other provinces and cities nationwide, multinational corporations, and foreign investors to penetrate into the global supply chain
