Da Nang prioritises developing industries and supporting industries
A delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by its Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai, on Friday, had a working session with the Da Nang People's Committee on orientations to develop industrial and supporting industries in the city.

In his closing speech at the working session, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade within its authority and responsibility will fully support all proposals made by Da Nang.
For his part, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh revealed that in the coming time his city will continue to shift its industrial structure towards increasing the proportion of industries using medium and high technologies and producing high value-added products.
By 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang will pay more attention to industrial development. Major issues in industrial development have all been incorporated into the city’s master plan.
Mr. Minh asked for support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to establish a non-tariff zone in Da Nang, as well as issue truly outstanding policies to create impetus for the city in the coming time.
He said that under the city is implementing the planning for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050, with a focus on forming large complexes of commercial centers and international trade centers in the area in order to build Da Nang into one of the major commercial centers and the hub for the distribution of goods in Central Viet Nam, and the whole country as a whole.
He, therefore, expressed his desire that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will facilitate businesses, especially foreign retailers, to expand their distribution systems in the city, and soon advise mechanisms and policies to attract investment in commercial infrastructure development.
During the working session, the participants contributed their constructive ideas as well as proposed a number of issues to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Da Nang government proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade should establish a technical center to support regional industrial development in Da Nang in 2022. Da Nang is ready to arrange a land fund at the Hi-tech Park’s Supporting Industrial Zone to serve the construction of the center.
Regarding the development of supporting industries, the city requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate in supporting the implementation of the contents of the Supporting Industry Development Programme in the locality over the 2022 – 2025 period, with a concentration on connecting and helping supporting industry enterprises to become product suppliers for domestic and foreign customers.
Importance will be attached to promoting investment attraction in the field of supporting industries, supporting enterprises to apply management systems to meet the requirements of global production chains in corporate governance and production management, improving the quality of human resources to meet the requirements of industries producing supporting industry products, boosting the application of technology transfer and innovation in the production of supporting industry products, and connecting database on supporting industries of Da Nang and the country.
As for industrial promotion, it is proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade continue to pay attention to supporting the city’s industry and trade sector to promote industrial promotion. In which, priority will be given to promoting cleaner production activities, as well as supporting the application of machinery, equipment and training and consulting activities in order to improve management capacity of industrial and handicraft production enterprises.
Also, the city suggested the Ministry of Industry and Trade pay attention to inviting and attracting more large corporations and companies to invest in its priority industries, including high-tech industry, information technology, and telecommunications industry in the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park, the Concentrated Information Technology Park and local industrial parks.
The city also asked for help from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organise the exhibition on supporting and processing industrial product, and seek markets and partners through trade counselors, e-commerce platforms and international fairs to increase its export turnover.
Heed will be on creating favourable conditions for the municipal Department of Industry and Trade and other local departments and agencies to participate in the industrial trade and investment promotion activities organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in foreign countries.
According to a report from the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the city is now home to 6 industrial parks, a Hi-Tech Park, a centralised Information Technology Park, and an expanded Thanh Vinh Industrial Cluster. During the 2011-2021 period, the added value of the city’s industrial sector rose by 10.7%/year.
The proportion of industry's contribution to the city's GRDP structure is increasing from 14.6% in 2010 to 14.95% in 2021. The industry has an important and stable contribution to creating jobs for locals.
Supporting industry is identified as one of Da Nang’s three spreadhead industrial sectors, contributing to creating competitive advantages to promote investment attraction of large-scale industrial projects into the city.
