In which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 8.9%; electricity production and distribution industry by 16.1%; water supply and management, and wastewater treatment by 22.4%; and the mining industry by 2.5%.

Meanwhile, although most of the trade and service industries in October alone tended to decrease compared to the previous month, the growth rate was still quite high in the first 10 months of 2022. Some groups of related trade and service industries grew strongly, and gradually restored business activities, after a long period being affected by COVID-19.

Specifically, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services in October was estimated at VND10,145 billion, down 2% compared to September and up 67.4% compared to the same period in 2021.

As accumulated from January to October, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services was estimated at VND90,984 billion VND, an increase of 45.8% over the same period in 2021. In the field of merchandise trade, the city's total revenue from retail sales of goods and services in August surpassed VND5,882 billion, an increase of 4.3% over the previous month and 96.3% over the same period last year.

The retail sales of merchandise in October was estimated at VND 5,864.7 billion, up 3.1% over the previous month and up 17.4% over the same period last year.

In which, retail sales in supermarkets generated VND301 billion, down 0.8% compared to the previous month and up 10.2% over the same period last year.

In the first 10 months of 2022, retail sales of merchandise reached VND 54,543 billion, up 18.3% over the same period in 2021. Of which, all 12 commodity groups saw a significant increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2021. Some commodity groups achieved an increase above the average growth rate such as garments with a rise of 39.5%; cultural and educational products 48.4%; gasoline, oil of all kinds 33.2%; and precious stones and metals 57.9%.

* The latest figures released from the Da Nang General Statistics Office show that Da Nang’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October went up by 0.27% as compared to September and 7.84% compared to the same period last year.

On average, in 10 months, CPI increased by 3.55% compared to the average of the same period in 2021. In the increase of 0.27% of October’s CPI, 8 out of the 11 commodity groups saw an increase in their prices, two commodity groups suffered from a decrease in their prices, and 1 group had stable prices compared to the previous month.

Some groups of goods reported a higher growth compared to the previous month, namely housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials by 1.55%; other goods and services by 1.04%; beverages and tobacco by 0.77%; food and food service by 0.52%; household appliances by 0.22%; hats and footwear by 0.19%; post and telecommunications by 0.09%; and medicine and medical services by 0.02%.

Two groups of goods saw a decrease in CPI: traffic down by 2.83%; and culture, entertainment and tourism by 0.14%. Meanwhile, the education group had a stable CPI.

Prominent reasons that made October’s CPI of many groups of goods and services increase from the previous month are a hike in prices of many food items, including vegetables, tubers and fruits, due to the influence of recent storms, especially after a historic flooding in mid-October, and in the prices of rental housing and personal services.
