'Green Core Centre' subdivision planning project to become spatial highlight and urban symbol of Da Nang

The Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the city’s Management Board of Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects to organise a workshop on Monday to evaluate the quality of the 'Green Core Centre’ subdivision planning project.

Under the draft plan, the 'Green Core Centre’ Subdivision will cover some parts of Hoa Son and Hoa Nhon communes in Hoa Vang District, the Hoa Khanh Bac, Hoa Khanh Nam and Hoa Minh wards in Lien Chieu District, and the Hoa An, Hoa Phat and Hoa Tho Tay wards in Cam Le District. The subdivision will cover an area of 4,775 ha and has the population of about 93,000 people.

The green core subdivision will develop according to the multi-centre model. In particular, a space centre will be formed around the city’s Coach Station, and a new urban centre will be set up on the ring road No.2 with public, trade and service spaces. Also, an urban centre west of the city will be developed based on the planning and construction of a new station as well as the rearrangement of the entire population of Hoa Nhon and Hoa Son communes.

The green core centre will form 6 development zones: an urban zone with an education, healthcare, cultural, physical training and sports centre and an important traffic hub; urban reconstruction and renovation zone; residential and warehouse zone; industrial and warehouse function zone and a part of Hoa Nhon residential area; mixed-use development and station zone; and restricted development zone.

The workshop received constructive comments and opinions from experts, organisations, and scientists.

In his conclusion speech at the workshop, Chairman of the municipal Union of Science and Technology Associations Vo Cong Tri remarked the purpose of the project is to concretise Prime Minister-approved adjustments to the city's master plan to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

He highlighted the significance of the project in serving as a basis for detailed planning and urban construction management, and the implementation of construction projects, in order to meet the needs of the socio- economic development in the planning area in particular and the city in general.
