Japanese businesses seek healthcare investment opportunities in Da Nang

Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh hosted a reception on Wednesday for Japanese businesses that show keen interest in healthcare investment opportunities in Da Nang. Japanese guests were Heisei Medical and Welfare Group, Metran Co., Ltd., and Merix Co., Ltd in addition to Viet Nam’s Thanh Dat Group.

Also present at the event were leaders of the city’s relevant agencies. Japanese delegation led by Mr. Takehiza Takahiro, the Director General of Heisei Medical and Welfare Group, included Mr. K.Ohtani, the Managing Director of Merix Co., Ltd, Mr. Kazufuku Nitta, CEO of Metran Co., Ltd. and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chien, CEO of Thanh Dat Group.

Vice Chairman Minh applauded the Japanese delegation’s visit and expressed his high appreciation for fruitful co-operative relationship between Da Nang and Japanese localities and businesses over recent years.

Mr Minh asked local relevant agencies to provide information related to investment regulations for Japanese businesses in order to help them to create investment proposals in healthcare facilities, including clinics, hospitals and nursing homes.

Also at the event, information about Da Nang’s investment environment and legal regulations related to investing in healthcare was introduced to the Japanese guests.

After the meeting, the Japanese delegation conducted field visits to the Da Nang Hospital and sites which is intended for the building of an international hospital and a nursing home.

Heisei Medical and Welfare Group started from Hakuai Memorial Hospital which was established in Tokushima, Shikoku in 1984. Since then, Heisei has been working on medical welfare based on the patient centered philosophy "Never Give Up", and aim to become a hospital/facility group which is valued by the local community. Currently, Heisei has more than 100 hospitals/facilities/schools and more than 15,000 staff members. Heisei provides welfare services for older people and persons with disabilities.

Currently, Japan is the largest foreign investor in Da Nang among more than 40 countries and territories investing in the city, with more than 200 projects totaling US$ 1 billion, creating employment for over 40,000 people. Japanese-invested projects mainly involve in components and equipment manufacturing, processing industry, information technology, services and tourism.
