Mrs. Ha, the owner of the Ha Cuong grocery store at the Con Market, said that since this week, she has started to import a number of goods with Tet packaging such as canned cakes and candies, dried nuts and dried beef for sale.

“I don't stockpile, but when I sell out, I will continue to import these goods. The prices of goods are still stable. I prefer to sell domestic products due to their affordable prices” she added.

Taking a walk around the Con Market, we can easily realize that the purchasing power of items such as dried shrimps, dried fruits and jam has begun to increase slightly compared to before but it is still quite slow.

Mrs. Tuc, who is selling Vietnamese goods at the Con Market, said "It's not yet the Tet sales season, but most confectionery stalls have to display products early so that market-goers can stop by and ask about the goods in advance".

Meanwhile, varieties of Tet goods, especially beer, soft drinks and confectionery, are on displayed at some big grocery stores in the city. Through our surveys, many beer companies are planning to increase product prices by 3%-10%. However, the retail price of beer at supermarkets and grocery stores varies from VND5,000 to VND15,000/barrel.

The bustling purchasing atmosphere for Tet has been recorded at some supermarkets citywide. At the present, supermarkets and retailers across Da Nang are offering a variety of Tet gift baskets at different prices to serve the shopping and gifting needs of both business and individual customers.

At the Co.opmart Da Nang Supermarket, food items and specialties across the country in a wide variety of types and designs, along with many promotions are being displayed for sale in order to meet the needs of customers.

Director of the Co.opmart Da Nang Supermarket Phan Thong said that his supermarket stocked up on essential goods on the occasion of the Tet 2023 with a total value of nearly VND100 billion to ensure good service before, during and after the Lunar New Year in the direction of the most practical and economical for consumers.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duong, the Director of MM Mega Market, informed that since early December, a wide range of Tet jams and Tet specialties of regions are hitting

“We focus on ensuring the supply of essential items such as vegetables, tubers, fruits, meat, fish, food, confectionery, beverages and home appliances, to help consumers easily access, and avoid the situation of scarce goods and unreasonable price increases” he added.

Director of the Hong Huong Fish Sauce Co., Ltd based Lien Chieu District Bui Thanh Phu said that his company plans to sell 8,000 liters of traditional fish sauce on this year’s Tet holiday, an increase of 25% against last year. Baked coconut cake produced by the My Phuong Bakery based in Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District, a specialty of Da Nang. is also favoured by consumers during the Tet Festival.

Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi, the owner of the facility, highlighted that the design and packaging are the key factors that determine the product's ability to reach consumers. Therefore, her facility has been constantly enhancing the quality and improving the designs.

“This year’s Tet holiday, we plan to launch 80,000 packages of baked coconut cakes to the market, a rise of 30,000 packages, equivalent to about 20%, over the same period. The price has not changed compared to last year" Ms. Nhi informed.

According to the annual rule, residents’ shopping demand for Tet food will sharply increase in the months leading up to Tet, so the city’s consumer price index in the month of the Lunar New Year will be higher than other months of the year. In general, businesses and traders ensure the adequate supply of goods in a bid to serve the needs of locals in the forthcoming Tet Festival.
