151ha non-tariff zone proposed in Da Nang
The Da Nang government has submitted a report to the Ministry of Planning and Investment requesting appraisal and then submitting it to the Prime Minister for approval on the project to establish a non-tariff zone in the city.
The non-tariff zone is oriented to be established at the end of Ba Na - Suoi Mo street, belonging to hillside subdivision planning, with a total area of more than 151 hectares, consisting of 4 functional areas with 11 operating industries.
In detail, the duty-free commercial area features a high-end discount store, a duty-free supermarket and ancillary services such as an indoor entertainment area, a shopping mall for household goods, gymnastics and sports equipment, food and night entertainment internal streets and an exhibition site.
The logistics centre area includes concentrated warehouse, customs management and a container yard.
The medical service area comprises international medical, health care and rehabilitation, anti-aging, geriatric treatment, drug research, application and testing centres and an exhibition site for pharmaceuticals, chemicals and cosmetics.
The area for educational service and other ancillaries includes an international medical training school, a hotel tourism training school, a product research and development centre, exhibition areas for high-tech agricultural products and handicrafts.
The roadmap for establishing a non-tariff zone in Da Nang consists of four phases. In the 2022 - 2023 period, the Prime Minister will consider whether or not approve the non-tariff zone project in the city.
In the 2023 - 2024 period, the municipal administration will preside over making dossiers of investment policies for submissions to the competent authority for infrastructure development investment in the non-tariff zone. Strategic investors eligible for developing the non-tariff zone will be selected.
In the 2024 - 2027 period, the city will urge strategic investors to implement a number of key infrastructure works and main functions of the zone, according to the approved planning plan to soon put it into operation.
In the period after 2027, focus will be on perfecting the management and coordination mechanism of the zone, completing functional infrastructure in order to effectively operate the zone.
