Da Nang leader pays inspection visit to Tet markets

On Thursday morning, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, along with leaders of some government departments and agencies, paid inspection visits to wet markets, price stabilization points and supermarkets across the city to check buying and selling activities, and consumer prices in these days leading up to Tet Festival 2023.

At the price-stabilizing pork selling point at 407 Trung Nu Vuong in Hoa Thuan Tay Ward, Hai Chau District, Vice Chairman Minh suggested that the seller must always display selling prices as well as keep the selling prices stable in order to ensure the needs of local residents during the Tet holiday.

This year, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with food distribution businesses to organize 18 price stabilization points citywide from January 18 (27th day of the 12th lunar month).

During his visit to the Con Market, Mr. Minh asked the Management Board of the market to regularly inspect and supervise sources of goods, trace their origins, ensure food safety and prevent fire during the Tet holiday.

At the Go! Supermarket, Vice Chairman Minh was reported by the supermarket representative on business and trading activities on the occasion of Tet. Accordingly, the number of visitors to the supermarket increased sharply, whilst the purchasing power rose by 34% compared to the same period last year. It is known that Vietnamese goods account for 95% of the total on sale at the supermarket in Da Nang, and other chains nationwide.

Mr. Nguyen Thuc, Head of the Management Team No. 1 under the city’s Market Management Bureau, said that over the past time, the market management force has coordinated with the management board of markets, supermarkets and trade centers to ensure that all market stallholders strictly implemented the city's rules on displaying the prices of their products, and selling them at the prices displayed.

Heed has been on encourage small traders not to increase prices unreasonably and ensure supply of Tet goods to satisfy the increasing shopping needs of locals. Currently, the source of goods at the markets is still secure, and the prices do not fluctuate much.
