Supermarkets and retailers in Da Nang get ready for Tet shopping

Abundant supply of goods, attractive promotions
The MM Mega Market has displayed Tet goods since December 15, 2022 so that locals can flexibly arrange shopping time, avoiding crowds on the days approaching Tet.
As recorded by our reporter, some strongly consumed products during Tet, such as confectionery and condiments, are often packed in large quantities, thereby helping customers to shop comfortably.
In addition, there is an increasing supply of fashion and beauty items, home decorations, regional and Tet specialties, and imported goods.
According to Director of MM Mega Market Nguyen Tien Duong, his supermarket is offering 16 types of Tet gift baskets for individual and corporate customers, at the prices of between VND300,000 and VND2 million each. Gift baskets on sale at include such typical items for Tet as confectionery, dried food, soft drinks, instant coffee, and wine.
The supermarket plans to open throughout the Tet, excluding the first day of the first lunar month, as well as expand the service hours from 6:00am to 11:00pm every day to ensure that all customers can fully shop for Tet during the busy year-end days.
During the peak weeks leading up to Tet, the supermarket adds seasonal workers for cashiers, packing Tet gift baskets and delivering goods in order to ensure the best services to customers.
Meanwhile, the Go! Supermarket has simultaneously deployed a number of attractive shopping stimulus programmes, including ‘Prices are always low ‘ with more than 7,000 essential goods, and the ‘Price lock’ policy with its commitment not to increase sale prices of more than 10,000 fast moving consumer goods.
Notably, the supmermarket is offering about 70 types of Tet gift baskets ranging from only VND99,000 to about VND3 million each.
In recent days, the bustling shopping atmosphere has been recorded at WinMart/Winmart+ stores. The volume of Tet goods is forecast to increase by 20-30% compared to normal months of the year and compared to the same period of Tet 2022.

Locals start going shopping for Tet
In two recent days, the number of visitors to the Con Market has been more crowded than that in previous weeks, especially stalls selling confectionery, jam, and dried food.
According to a recent survey, the prices of all kinds of confectionery have increased slightly compared to the previous year’s.
Specifically, the prices of confectionery go up by VND2,000 - VND8,000 for paper boxes specially designed for Tet, and by VND10,000 - VND30,000 for tin boxes with Tet desisgns. Meanwhile, the prices of confectionery in plastic boxes remain unchanged.
There has been a sharp increase in purchasing power at supermarkets in comparision with a week earlier.
Mrs Le Thi Yen residing in Thanh Khe District said that she decided to buy Tet goods earlier than the previous year because a wide range of Tet goods, plus attractive promotions, are on sale at resonable prices.
Currently, online sales channels have been flooded with attractive advertising and promotions to serve people's Tet shopping needs. Products on e-commerce platforms are clearly updated from images, sizes as and clearly described uses so that buyers can visualize in the most detail and completeness.
It is known that the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has made a plan to prepare Tet goods through connecting with localities to create a supply and demand network, and at the same time, has organized many trade promotion activities. The agency also affirms that there is abundant supply of goods for the upcoming Tet holiday.
