New services added

For a long time, beaches have become an indispensable destination for tourists when coming to Da Nang. Visitors like swimming, sunbathing and taking souvenir photos with miniatures, showing that it is necessary for Da Nang to add new products and services in a bid to better serve tourists.

Ms. Yeng Chaewon, a South Korean native, staying at a hotel on Vo Nguyen Giap Street in Ngu Hanh Son District, expressed that this was the second time her family had come to Da Nang. All her family members loved the airy and peaceful space  at local beaches. Therefore, her family spent a lot of time relaxing and playing at the beach.

Most recently, many services and utilities have been added to serve the needs of guests and create highlights at beaches such as massage therapy, movie screening at the beach, and cuisine demonstrations.

After nearly aone year of piloting the movie screening service at a beach to serve tourists, Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Manager of the My Khe - Sao Bien Beach Cinema Area said, this was a fairly new model in Da Nang.

On weekend evenings, at the beach area, movies are screened for visitors to enjoy, on non-cinema days, there are music programmes and DJ performances.

The movie screening model at beach is a new product that is quite attractive to tourists, especially ex-pats in Da Nang, providing an open space for them to meet, chat or relax in evenings.

“We also regularly invest in equipment, decorate seating space and walkways, and utilities around the movie screening area in a bid to both create something new and different and give guests a comfortable relaxing space” Mr. Tuan Anh added.

According to Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Nguyen Duc Vu, in addition to spaces for entertainment, swimming and teambuilding activities for large groups of tourists, a wide range of new services and utilities have been added at beaches in recent years, aiming at increasing experience for visitors. Included are watersport services, public freshwater shower areas, food and souvenir stalls, check-in areas, and some cultural and sports events at the East Sea Park.

Particularly, the city has piloted night entertainment activities along the My An beach in Ngu Hanh Son District, a move to promote the creation of new various types of tourism products, services and utilities targeting both local residents and tourists.

These highly inviting tourism products include food truck, a large motorised vehicle (such as a van) or trailer, equipped to cook, prepare, serve, and/or sell food, outdoor staging events associated with community-based activities, folk games, movie screenings on the beach, check-in spots, and massage therapy service on the beach. This has created a vibrant and fascinating My An - An Thuong tourist street during the day and at night.

Cultural, sports and beach tourism activities strengthened

In an effort to prepare for the forthcoming peak tourist season, the Da Nang Department of Tourism has asked the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches to strengthen the organisation of cultural, sports and marine tourism activities by organising many attractive activities for the upcoming Da Nang Beach Tourism Season programme. Included will be installation arts spaces, an art kite festival, a coastal food festival, a series of beach sports and entertainment activities and marine environmental protection, and community exhibitions.

On the occasion, the CT15 Inland Wharf, diving tours to watch corals and go fishing at sea with local fishermen, and wild animal observing tours in parallel with environmental and natural resource protection activities will be launched by the Management Board.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu informed that right from the beginning of the year, the unit has strengthened rescue work, ensured security and environmental sanitation, and upgraded public service facilities at the beach.

Additionally, the unit has regularly coordinated with coastal districts and organisations to deploy troops to handle itinerant beggars and tourist harassment cases in order to ensure security, order, and environmental sanitation at local beaches.

The management board has maintained rescue duty until 9:30pm every night at some central beach areas along the Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa route. Besides, a training course on marine rescue will be held in mid-March with the guidance of Mr. David Field, an Australian rescue expert and volunteer.

Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh said that the product is one of the important factors to create a competitive advantage for the destination. Therefore, the city's tourism industry will continue to develop and promote the product groups, and at the same time to add and refresh products to meet market trends and diversify products.

Along with high-class beach resort products that are loved and appreciated by tourists, in 2023, the construction progress of the Nam O eco-tourism area project and the Lang Van resort and entertainment complex will be accelerated, she added.

Furthermore, the ‘Da Nang by Night’ programme, and other entertainment activities will continue to be piloted. The city will attach the importance to completing a plan to develop cuisine into a unique tourism product of Da Nang
