The Da Nang government has approved investment policy decision for a project to install a parking monitoring and control system as part of the Smart Lien Chieu District Construction plan.

Under the project, the surveillance camera system will be installed, whilst smart apps which allow users to find the nearest parking locations, manage parking access, monitor parking status on roads and in parking lots, and detect illegally parked vehicles, will be applied.

Belonging to group C in the field of information technology, the project costs VND6 billion which is funded by the city budget. It will be carried out during the 2023-2024 period.

The Lien Chieu District People’s Committee is the project’s investor and manager with an investment scale of hardware and software.

In which, the hardware includes the categories of sharing the server infrastructure invested under the smart city construction project; leasing transmission infrastructure or connecting to the city's urban network (MAN); signals from cameras to the District Urban Management and Monitoring Center; and installing parking surveillance cameras at important intersections, traffic routes near big markets, central bus stations, areas with waiting lines and bus stops, and areas in front of universities, colleges, schools with high density of vehicles.

Meanwhile, the software includes the categories of deploying artificial intelligence (AI) applications on a network of surveillance cameras with the function of vehicle identification and classification; automatically identifying vehicle number plates; detecting illegally parked vehicles; giving warnings of traffic jam; deploying web applications for supervisors and Mobile apps for leaders and managers of parking lots; viewing current locations on the map, and asking for directions to the nearest parking lots.
