Maintaining the pace of production
Nearly 4,200 workers of the Daiwa Vietnam Company Limited located in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu District, were back to work on Wednesday, February 1.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, the the company’s Director, said that recent years have witnessed significant decrease in the number of employees voluntarily quitting their jobs after Tet as the company has made great efforts to motivate its employees to boost their morale and make them happy by paying their salaries and Tet bonuses on time. There was a small number of workers returning to work late due to being late to catch a train or a coach or family reasons. In 2023, the company continues to expand production, and it also plans to recruit employees for its new factory. In addition, the company will continue to train its existing employees in order to improve their professional skills, as well as improve discipline in the workplace, thereby stabilizing its production.
Meanwhile, there is not much changes in the workforce of the Fujikura Automotive Vietnam Ltd located in Hoa Cam Industrial Park, Cam Le District, after Tet. The company is planning to hire workers to complete new production orders which were signed with its partners for 2023.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Khoa Nguyen, the manager of the company’s Human Resources Department said that 95% of the company’s total employees have returned to work. The company still maintains monthly bonuses for its employees and ensures good care of their health and other benefits for them in order to boost productivity and workplace morale.
Furthermore, workforce in businesses located in in industrial parks in Son Tra District is basically stable.
Mr. Tran Van Linh, the CEO of the Thuan Phuoc Seafoods and Trading Corporation located in the Tho Quang Seafood Industrial Park remarked that nearly 2,000 employees returned to work on January 30 (the 9th day of the first lunar month). Despite several economic challenges in 2022, the company earned about USD 130 million from exports, an increase of 12.3% or USD 105 million compared to 2021. Although the seafood industry still faces raw material shortage, the company ensures the benefits for its employees. As usual, the first quarter of every year is off-peak production period as there is not much production orders. However, the company still plans to produce as well as stock up on supplies in a bid to speed up production after export markets see positive signs.
Similarly, all employees of the Trung Khoa Company Limited located in the Da Nang Industrial Park have been back to work since January 31.
Ensuring benefits for employees to retain them
Difficult production conditions faced by some businesses in Da Nang in late 2022 have changed workers’ minds. Therefore, job-hopping and taking a long time off from work after Tet are no longer a trend for workers as they want to have a stable job. Before Tet, trade unions at all levels organized Tet reunion activities and Trade Union Tet Fairs with discounts, thus strengthening the bond between employers and their employees.
In addition, many workers stayed in the city during Tet as their companies needed to complete production orders from their customers. Hence, the production situation in Da Nang showed positive signs. Industrial businesses across the city have encouraged their employees to return to work on time after Tet by giving lucky money and gifts at the beginning of the lunar year, as well as ensuring good care of their employees in an attempt to build a strong bond between them and their companies. Meanwhile, workforce in companies restarting operations on January 30 or later is also expected to be stable as the rate of the employees who are back to work is high.
Mr Nguyen Dang Hoang, the Director of the Municipal Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that in its efforts to ensure the benefits for employees, the Department has directed businesses to be strict in following the law on occupational safety and health, as well as create and implement effective employee benefits program to retain them, plus provide timely support for those in difficult circumstances.
Moreover, the Department and relevant local agencies will work together to instruct businesses to coordinate with grassroots trade unions to strengthen dialogue with their employees in efforts to ensure one-time payment of salaries and bonuses, as well as stop businesses to give their employees salary and bonus arrears. Besides, the Department will continue to ask the Municipal Employment Service Center to organize more job fairs with high priority given to opening online events, which bring together employers and potential employees, thereby increasing the chances of job seekers to find a job.
According to a quick report published by the Da Nang Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, a series of businesses in Da Nang have restarted production since January 27 (the 6th day of the first lunar month). In which, tourist accommodation providers have welcomed many domestic and international visitor groups. By January 30, 95% of the employees in Da Nang- based businesses had returned to work. In particular, many large companies, including the March 29 Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, Kad Industrial S.A Vietnam Co., Ltd., Da Nang Mabuchi Motor Co., Ltd, Pi Vina Da Nang Co., Ltd., the Hoa Tho Textile and Garment Corporation, have seen all their employees being back to work. |
