Accordingly, motor vehicle registration centres in the city have signed a contract with VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited (VETC Card) to encourage the owners of vehicles to have them equipped with automatic toll payment tags (etags) at inspection centres to make them eligible to use the ETC systems.
The number of VETC cards that have been attached to vehicles up to now has reached over 20,000 cards.
In addition, over 70% of officials, public servants and employees in the local transportation industry who have personal cars equipped with etags.
In addition, the Department of Transport also agreed to expand the provision of ETC service at such sites as coach stations and parking lots in order to maximise the effectiveness of this highly practical service.
ETC systems charge a toll to users without requiring any action or stopping by the driver. The system debits the accounts of registered car owners or identifies the license plate for later billing, without requiring vehicles to stop. ETC lanes improve the speed and efficiency of traffic flow and save drivers time.
