It is forecasted that during the forthcoming 4-day break for the National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holidays, the number of tourists travelling will increase. Taking advantage this trend, road, railway and airline transport businesses have built up plans to increase their services, in order to better serve the travel demand of local residents and tourists.

A coincidence is that this year, workers in Viet Nam will enjoy five consecutive days off from April 29 to May 3 to celebrate Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and International Workers’ Day. Anticipating that the travel demand of people will climb up, passenger transport businesses have made preparations.

According to Mr. Doan Kim Tuan, the captain of the passenger transport team from the Da Nang Railway Transport Branch, to serve the travel needs of passengers, the railway industry has increased flights on the upcoming occasion.

Accordingly, the railway continues to increase up about 10 trains between the central provinces and the southern metropolitan of Ho Chi Minh City to meet the public travel needs during the holiday break.

Currently, in Da Nang, demand is not too strong; so tickets near the holiday are still available, especially on April 28, 29 and May 1 and 2. Passengers should register to make ticket purchases early.

Of special note, the railway industry also advises passengers not to buy tickets through intermediaries to avoid buying fake tickets or those with incorrect information.

Passengers are only allowed to enter the railway station and take train rides when information on their identification documents matches those printed on the boarding pass and stored on the electronic ticketing system.

In a similar vein, the airline has also raised flight services, including adding more night-time flights and handling flight delays and cancellations.

According to information from the Da Nang International Airport, it is expected that the number of domestic and international flights taking off and landing at Da Nang International Airport from April 28 to May 4 will go up sharply as compared to the same period last year.

As predicted that during this time, there will be 1,573 flights taking off and landing at the airport.

The peak number of flights landing at the Da Nang airport on this occasion is on April 28 and May 3, with a total of 115 flights. The peak number of flights taking off from the airport is on April 28 with 117 flights and May 1 with 113 flights.

It is known that in the first quarter of 2023, Da Nang opened new routes that connect Da Nang with Macau (China), Narita (Japan) and Vientiane (Laos), respectively. Up to now, there have been a total of 16 regular international flights to the airport operated by 20 airlines. The frequency is estimated at more than 280 flights/week, with an average of 40 flights/day.

As revealed by a representative of  this budget air carrier, from April 28 to May 4, it is expected that there will be a rise of 70,000 seats on routes between Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Hue, Vinh, Thanh Hoa and Pleiku, up by 20% as compared to usual.

Along with that, flight frequency has been adjusted upwards, thereby making it more convenient for people and tourists.

As reported by Viet Nam's national flagship carrier Vietnam Airlines, in order to meet the travel needs of people during the holiday break, Vietnam Airlines and VASCO, a member company of Vietnam Airlines, will provide nearly 551,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 2,800 flights on domestic routes.

Looking up on the air ticket system, it shows that since April 18, passengers can't order tickets because they are sold out. The reason is that there is a sharp hike in ticket bookings for trips to Da Nang for Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2023 that is scheduled to take place from  June 2  to July 8.

On the side of Bamboo Airways, this airline is also readying optimal solutions to exploit 100% of capacity. It is expected to increase the supply of 25,000 seats/day on domestic routes, up about 15% of the supply load.

Through recent surveys, the airfare on this occasion has also increased higher than usual. For the time being, domestic and international tour prices are also up to 60% higher than weekdays. In particular, airfares for trips to such domestic tourist destinations as Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Con Dao and Da Lat have all increased significantly.

With regards to roadways, General Director of Da Nang Transport and Bus Station Management JSC Pham Loi said that the upcoming holiday break is the longest vacation period since the beginning of the year, which leads to a surge in travel demand. The company has built up specific plans to ensure enough vehicles to serve the growing needs of passengers.
