During the going 5-day holiday break applied nationwide, the number of local residents and tourists shopping at markets and supermarkets across Da Nang is recording a hike as compared to the previous days. Traders are gearing up actively increasing the quantity of goods in stock and deploying promotional programmes to stimulate consumption.

Bustling and exciting shopping atmosphere is recorded at the Con Market.

At the Con Market, one of the largest of its kind in Da Nang, the atmosphere is very busy and vibrant. The items are displayed eye-catchingly by stall holders with clearly listed prices. According to some traders, tourists tend to buy gifts on the last 2 days of the holiday. Therefore, purchasing power at the market is expected to increase sharply.

Ms. Truong Thi Ly, the owner of a shop selling dry goods here said that the number of visitors to the market during the holidays is relatively high. Mrs. Ly and many other traders at the market have prepared a sufficient amount of goods to meet the shopping needs of tourists during the remaining days of the holiday break.

Nguyen Truong Giang, a tourist from the capital city of Ha Noi said, this was the second time he and his friends had come to Da Nang for travelling and shopping at the Con Market. Busy and bustling trade ambiance is observed here both in the daytime and nighttime. Prices are displayed, so you can rest assured when shopping.

“I buy a lot of dry goods to give as gifts to my family. Compared to other Vietnamese localities, the prices at the market, and in Da Nang as a whole, are quite cheap. The sellers here are also very friendly," said Mr. Giang.

According to the Head of Con Market management board, Phan Thanh Thoai, the number of domestic tourists coming to the market has climbed up more than usual. During the holiday, an average of about 7,000-10,000 visitors shop at this market every day.

The quantity of goods at the market always meets the needs of city dwellers and visitors. "On this occasion, the management board has strengthened inspection work, especially ensuring food safety and hygiene of fast moving consumer goods, ready-to-consumer products. We will strictly handle cases of violations that blight the image of trade and tourism environment at the market.”, said Mr. Thoai.

At the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market located in Hai Chau District, every day, the output of goods at the market is about 290-310 tonnes. Prices of commodities are now still stable, especially vegetables down slightly from VND 2,000-3,000/kg.

Ms. Vo Thi Thu Thuy, the Director of GO! Da Nang said, on this holiday, the supermarket is launching an attractive promotion programe under which a discount of up to 50% is applied to all products, especially fresh food items such as meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.

In addition, for the group of non-food products, many promotional programm are running, in a bid to rise purchase power.

"Preliminarily, the number of visitors on these days is on an upward trend as compared to weekdays. The supermarket has prepared a large amount of goods to meet the shopping needs of the people.”, said Ms. Thuy.

Goods are continuously added to the shelves at supermarkets, meeting the shopping needs of customers.
