Da Nang keeps pushing non-cash payments in popularity
Thanks to its convenience, cashless payment and transaction channels are increasingly popular, with commercial banks, e-wallets and fintech companies promoting the application of technology for online payments. Recently, the Da Nang Department of Tourism issued a plan to implement the ‘Project on the development of non-cash payment in the tourism industry in the 2023-2025 period’.

Accordingly, the plan is considered to be an active response to the Prime Minister -approved project of developing non-cash payment in Viet Nam in the 2021 - 2025 period in tandem with encouraging civil servants, public employees and tourism business units citywide to make a positive shift to using non-cash payment methods whilst paying for public services, taxes, insurance premiums, and other daily life services.
In fact, the project on developing non-cash payment for Da Nang tourism industry sets the goal of 100% of the department's administrative procedures accepting online payments by 2025 for fees and charges on the municipal and national online public service portals.
Also, 100% of the tourism service enterprises throughout the city will access the guidelines and policies of the State on non-cash payment and all of the tourism service enterprises in the city will apply one or more non-cash payment methods such as payment by QRCode, payment gateway Vnpay, POS card swiping machine, Internet banking, Mobile Banking and direct transfer on ATMs…;
At-beach freshwater service providers under the management of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches shall introduce the use of non-cash payment means.
In addition, under the plan, heed will be paid to deploying at least one model of tourist accommodation establishments accelerating non-cash payment, including solutions to encourage customers to pay non-cash, with linkage with commercial local banks to launch stimulus packages to use non-cash services like scanning QR codes for discounts.
After that, 100% of the tourist accommodation establishments, standard tourist service businesses in the city will be recommended to apply one or more non-cash payment methods.
With regard to the digital economy, towards the goal of 80% of tourism service businesses accessing training to raise awareness about the need to implement digital transformation in their trade operations.
Each visitor is consulted and supported in a timely manner before, during and after arriving in Da Nang via a digital platform in the form of multi-channel multi-point distribution services, VR 360 virtual reality technology in various stages and VR (virtual reality) malls and mart travel cards.
As for the goal of digital society, 100% of tourism and service providers and businesses shall ensure their compliance with the rules of conduct and professional standards in the digital environment. Another plan involves the promoted participation of the tourism community in creating content, evaluating and improving the quality of local tourists attractions, products and services.
