According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in the first quarter of 2023, the number of guests served by accommodation establishments in the city was estimated at more than 1.42 million, 4.6 times higher than the same period in 2022, an increase of nearly 14 % over the same period in 2019. This shows a strong recovery of the local tourism industry.

33 air routes resumed

Information provided by the municipal Department of Tourism shows that up to now, Da Nang has resumed 33 air routes, including 25 international routes and 8 domestic ones.

In the first quarter of the year, Da Nang received 9,300 flights bringing a total of surpassing 1.47 million passengers to the city. Of the figure, there were 5,600 domestic flights with more than 900,000 passengers onboard and 3,700 international flights with nearly 570,000 passengers.

Another activity that is highly appreciated by tourists is that the city constantly hosts a number of fascinating events and festivals, and brings new services, to lure more visitors.

According to Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, in order to attract more visitors, this summer, Da Nang organises this year’s tourism stimulus programme with themes of ‘enjoy festivals, enjoy the sea, enjoy entertainment, and enjoy food - spa and shopping’. It is made with a new form on an updated basis, meeting the needs, tastes and trends of today's tourist markets.

This programme contributes to advertising Da Nang on a large scale on many channels, especially through social networks in a new way to spread the images of Da Nang as a unique, safe and attractive destination to visitors at both home and abroad. At the same time, it helps promote the attraction and exploitation of tourist markets to Da Nang, and completely restore tourism service activities in the locality.

Enrich system of tourism products

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Binh, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Economics under the University of Da Nang, the recent tourism rebound has showed that Da Nang has created its brand and its mark through a series of domestic and international events. Included are the Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival in September 2022, the Routes Asia 2022, and especially the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, one of Da Nang's trademarks, which contributes to increasing the city's attractiveness.

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, assessed that tourism has really become a spearhead economic sector with strong spillover effects, making an important contribution to the overall development of the city.

He highlighted the significance of the annual Da Nang International Fireworks Festival in contributing to attracting more domestic and foreign tourists to the city, as well as helping Da Nang twice win the title of 'Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination 2022'.

This year, the return of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival promises to attract more visitors, contributing to the general recovery of local tourism.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, however, stressed the need for the city to enrich the system of tourism products in a bid to lure more visitors in the coming time. The focus should be on promoting the building of a fireworks product ecosystem, including a full range of services and utilities to serve the needs of domestic and foreign guests to watch fireworks, so as to stimulate guests to extend their stay periods and increase their spending in the city.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group in the central region, remarked the city’s strong recovery was the foundation for tourism businesses to add new products and services so as to diversify experience for tourists, and enhance the attractiveness of tourist destinations, thereby contributing to Da Nang's rapid tourism recovery and breakthrough growth.

As in this summer, Sun Group continues to cooperate with the city in organising the fireworks festival to bring a "flaming" summer to Da Nang. Meanwhile, a wide range of exciting activities and events are being held at the Sun World Ba Na Hills, such as the Thai Songkran water festival in April, the South Korean traditional art and food festival in May and June, the French cultural festival in July, and the Ba Na lantern festival from May throughout September.
