After nearly a year of construction that started from November 2021 and completed in December 2022, the construction of two parking works parking is of high quality and highly qualified for operation.

It is known that, the steel - framed parking facility at 166 Hai Phong (Phase 1) located in Thanh Khe District covers a construction planning area of 5,275m2, featuring a smart garage and ancillary works in support for parking system at a total investment capital of nearly VND78 billion.

The parking garage with assembled steel structure, consisting of six floating floors with 173 parking positions, applicable for cars with 7 seats or less. Each floor has 4 blocks and each block comprises 6 compartments. The only upper floor with 9 compartments is applied to automatic toll collection system by magnetic cards.

There is also a concrete yard with 100 parking spots. This parking garage is designed with an automatic parking system with the transmission, control system and main imported equipment meeting CE standards, along with design automatic fire prevention system.

Meanwhile, the smart parking garage at 255 Phan Chau Trinh (Phase 2), built on a planned area of more than 1,000m2, with construction work starting from November 2021.

This parking facility uses an assembled steel structure, highlighting 2 blocks, 6 floors, 7 compartments with a total of 74 parking positions operated according to a puzzle system applied to cars under 7 seats.
There is also an automatic parking system with transmission, control and equipment systems that meet CE standards, along with automatic fire prevention system for the garage frame system, and an automatic toll collection system with the use of magnetic cards. Total investment for this project is about VND 30 billion.

As reported by Mr. Nguyen Minh Huy, Director of the Da Nang Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects, the main work items of the parking garage at 166 Hai Phong (Phase 1) have been completed and its quality was assessed through a recent acceptance test that confirms its qualification for being put into use. Particularly for another one at 255 Phan Chau Trinh (Phase 2), at the end of April 2023, the fire prevention and fire fighting category was accepted by the Da Nang Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department.

In another move, the Da Nang People's Committee has directed relevant units to speed up the progress of setting planning targets, develop investment plans, and conduct project bidding sessions for the construction of other parking sites, especially those located in the city centre, including 51A Ly Tu Trong, 172 Nguyen Chi Thanh and K8 Phan Boi Chau.

In fact, the situation of cars parked on some urban streets is rampant for the time being, and large tourist coaches also regularly circulate in the city centre, along such busy streets as Tran Phu, Thai Phien, Tran Quoc Toan, Yen Bai, Vo Nguyen Giap and Hoang Sa, which is causing partial congestion there.

Meanwhile, the progress of investment in car parking facilities in the inner city has not met the requirements.

Currently, the capacity of State budget-funded parking sites, including makeshift ones in the central area, is small as compared to the number of cars available now. In addition, during the ongoing peak tourist season, tourist coaches and personal cars from other nationwide localities are in circulation on many downtown streets.

The demand for car parking is large and the capacity is limited, and this fact is driving the parking situation in the city centre to turn rampant, thus reducing traffic movement capacity.

According to Director of the Da Nang Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung, relevant local agencies are developing land auction plans for the development of new public car parking establishments at other locations.

Included are those at 10 Ly Thuong Kiet, A2 Nguyen Van Linh, 51A Ly Tu Trong, 19 Le Hong Phong; land plot coded HC12 at the western at Nguyen Van Troi Pedestrian Bridge, a land area southeast of Pham Van Dong - Ngo Quyen intersection, land plot coded A1.1 near Pham Van Dong - Ngo Quyen intersection, A1.2 on the corner of Duong Dinh Nghe and Ngo Quyen streets, A16 Vo Van Kiet, a land plot at the Vo Nguyen Giap - Phan Tu intersection, an area west of Vo Nguyen Giap.
