Da Nang to build more social housing for low-income workers

In addition to more than 13,000 social housing apartments which are being sold for disadvantaged people, the Da Nang government is making efforts to build more social housing units to address the housing needs of low-income earners in the city.

Many housing apartments go on sale

On May 8 and 9, the remaining 172 social housing apartments of four 21-storey buildings under the Bau Tram Lakeside Green Urban Area project in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, developed  by Saigon - Da Nang Investment Corporation, are eligible for sales.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Construction Tran Van Hoang said that the social housing apartment project at the land plot B4-1 in the Bau Tram Lakeside Green Urban Area provides a total of 1,275 apartments. Of which, 990 apartments go on sale. More than 800 of them are signed by the investors, while 172 apartments are receiving purchase registration documents.

Under the project, 285 apartments are eligible for lease. In addition, the social housing apartment project at land lot B4-2 at the Bau Tram Lakeside has a total of 1,461 social housing apartments. 1,165 of them have been released for sale.

As for affordable housing development for workers in the Hoa Cam Industrial Park, 117 out of the 285 apartments have been approved for lease.

Continue to build thousands of apartments

According to the municipal Department of Construction, aside from the abovementioned social housing apartment projects, the city is building a social housing apartment complex for people with meritorious services to the revolution on Vu Mong Nguyen Street. The city budget-funded development expects to offer a total of 209 apartments for needy people.

Meanwhile, the Duc Manh JSC and the 579 Construction Investment JSC are constructing two blocks A and B of the affordable housing project at the An Trung 2 Residential Area in An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District with 633 apartments, and block C of another project at the Dai Dia Bao Resettlement Area in Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District with 237 apartments.

The city is implementing procedures to select investors for social housing projects at land plots B4-1 and B4-2 in Hoa Hiep 4 Resettlement Area, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, with 1,564 apartments; for two apartment buildings No. 3 and No. 5 in Zone B, a residential area south of Cam Le Bridge, Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District with 719 and 1,236 apartments respectively; and for the other at the Hoa Cam Industrial Park at phase 2 with 600 units.

Besides, since late 2021, the municipal government has asked for permission from the ministries, branches, the central government and the Prime Minister to convert the function of 728 rooms at the concentrated student hall of residence on the western side of the city and the expanded student hall of residence in Hoa Khanh Industrial Urban Area in Lien Chieu District to social housing building for workers.

In case of having to return the Government bond capital that has been arranged to build the two above-mentioned student halls of residence, the municipal government proposes the Prime Minister to allow the city to develop a scheme to sell social housing project owned by the State after changing the use purpose of 2 student halls of residence to have funds to repay the Government bond capital as well as renovate and change the use purpose to social housing and reinvest in housing projects in the city.
