With its important position of being a centre of the growth pole of the key economic zone in Central Viet Nam, Da Nang has been making efforts to develop a transport infrastructure system connecting with other provinces in general and Quang Nam Province in particular, thereby meeting local needs and creating regional transport infrastructure linkages.

Da Nang has favourable geographical location when fully converging all types of transport such as air, seaport, railway, waterway and road. Over the past time, the Departments of Transport of Quang Nam Province and Da Nang have coordinated to connect planning and deploy investment in the construction of main traffic axes.

Accordingly, the main traffic system in the eastern coastal area has been basically completed, including Truong Sa coastal road (Da Nang) - Lac Long Quan - Tel.603B (Quang Nam Province), Tran Dai Nghia (Da Nang) - Tran Hung Dao (DT.607 Quang Nam), and Mai Dang Chon (Da Nang) - Pham Nhu Xuong (Quang Nam).

Besides, the main axis traffic system in the northern area of Quang Nam Province is being implemented such as the Ring Belt Road project north of Quang Nam Province (Dien Ban Town), and the Quang Da Bridge and the approach road to the Bridge (Dien Ban Town).

Along with that, the traffic infrastructure system on national highways of 14G, 14B, 14D and 1A has been upgraded, thereby ensuring traffic connectivity between the two localities.

Director of the municipal Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung said that the department has advised the People's Committee of Da Nang to support Quang Nam Province to build Mai Dang Chon and DT605 routes with sections passing through Quang Nam Province; an internal road in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang connecting DH4 road to the main traffic axis of Dien Tien Commune, Dien Ban Town; and Cam Ly Bridge project in Dien Tien Commune.

Especially, the local authorities have been preparing procedures for the construction of the Quang Da Bridge and approach roads to the bridge to connect traffic between Hoa Vang District in Da Nang and Dien Ban Town in Quang Nam Province, as well as step by step perfecting the regional transport network and promoting socio-economic development in rural areas between the two provinces and cities.

Furthermore, Da Nang and Quang Nam Province have joined efforts to implement a plan to connect public passenger transport between the two localities; develop a plan to connect waterway traffic on the Da Nang - Hoi An route after the Co Co River dredging project is completed.

Special attention has been paid to conducting research, considering and rationally exploiting the Da Nang - Cu Lao Cham inland waterway tourism route, as well as seeking capital to implement the LRT/MRT (subway) line connecting Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

The two localities have also advised the Central Government to soon invest in expanding and upgrading national highways 14G, 14B and 14D in the 2021-2025 period.
