The recent Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023 has proved highly successful. This event was implemented in a serious and effective manner, and it left many good impressions on both city dwellers and tourists near and far.

The above-mentioned review was officially released in a Tuesday review meeting on DIFF 2023 which was attended by Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh and representatives from other competent agencies. 

Addressing the event, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang acknowledged, praised and appreciated the great success of DIFF 2023. He underlined a must-do to draw lessons in terms of organising tasks so that the city can continue to host not only DIFF but also many other international events in the coming time.

In addition to the determination exerted by the city's leaders, the success of DIFF 2023 was also significantly attributed to the companionship and professionalism of the Da Nang-headquartered Sun Group in organising such a large-scale international event, along with great efforts by relevant agencies and enthusiastic support from local residents.

On behalf of the city’s authorities, the Da Nang top leader sincerely thanked local residents for their companionship and civilised behaviour which were promoted at the right time and left impressive impressions on tourists.

“The success of DIFF 2023 offers a motivation for the city to make better preparations for other cultural and tourism events. It is a good idea to integrate this festival into a chain of cultural - sports events in the city, instead of being separated it from others”, Secretary Quang emphasised.

As assessed by municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, 2-month-long DIFF 2023 proved greatly successful in such aspects as the quality of the participating teams; security, sanitation, healthcare and performance scales. Outstandingly, flights to Da Nang on fireworks performance dates were full.

Achieving success is the political determination made by the city's leaders, the support of the national government, the companionship of Sun Group, the business community, and the local people working together to build the city's beautiful image during DIFF 2023, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of this central coastal tourism hub.

According to the report released by the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, the total revenue generated from ticket sales this year is VND 9.7 billion, down only 17.5% from 2019 (VND 11.77 billion).

The number of visitors served by accommodation facilities for more than a month during DIFF 2023, from June 2 to July 8, reached about 942,000, an increase of 29% compared to DIFF 2019.

The 5-day accommodation service during DIFF 2023 reached about 321,700 visitors. Revenue from accommodation, catering and travel services in June 2023 was estimated at VND 2,341 billion, up 24.9% over the same period in 2022.

Also, encouragingly, during DIFF 2023, the number of shoppers went up significantly as compared to the previous editions, especially mainly at tourist-packed markets such as Han and Con markets and Son Tra Night Market with rich and diverse goods.

According to statistics, the total retail sales of goods in Da Nang in June 2023 was estimated at VND 5,672 billion, up 3.7% over the previous month and up 5.3% over the same period in 2022.

Other activities such as nightly art programme at fireworks performance nights ensuring good quality and meeting the set requirements; health care, food safety and hygiene, security, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting completely ensured; response to environmental incidents effectively implemented.

On this occasion, 26 collectives and 18 individuals received certificates of merit from the Da Nang People's Committee Chairman in recognition of their outstanding achievements in organising DIFF 2023.
