The Saigon Railway Transport JSC announced on Monday that it has opened ticket sales for trains on the Thong Nhat (North-South) route in a bid to meet increasing travel demand of passengers during the upcoming National Day (September 2) holiday.

Specifically, train tickets are on sale for 4 pairs of Thong Nhat trains: SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6 and SE7/SE8 running daily between Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi, a pair of SE21/SE22 passenger trains between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, a pair of SNT1/SNT2 trains between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, and a pair of SPT1/SPT2 trains between Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet.

Train tickets on the Thong Nhat route range from VND1,046,000/ticket/way - VND1,425,000/ticket/way depending on the type of seat and bed categories, and train brand.

Similarly, train tickets for SE21/SE22 trains are being offered at the prices of VND748,000/ticket/way - VND1,295,000/ticket/way; those for SNT1/SNT2 trains fluctuate from VND622,000/ticket/way - VND1,090,000/ticket/way, and those for SPT1/SPT2 trains range from VND261,000/ticket/way - VND349,000/ticket/way.

On this occasion, the Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company still implements many policies on exemption and reduction of train ticket prices for some eligible groups of passengers, including heroic Vietnamese mothers, wounded soldiers, the disabled, the elderly, students, trade union members, and passengers with customer cards.

Notably, children under 6 years old are exempted from tickets when accompanied by adults, and those aged 6 -10 are entitled to a 25% discount on ticket prices.

Individuals or groups of 20 or more buying round-trip tickets will also enjoy a discount of 5% and 7% on the return leg.

When travel demand increases during the forthcoming holiday, the railway will run more passenger trains from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Da Nang, and Ha Noi and vice versa.
