Urgent request

The Hoa Cuong wholesale market in Hai Chau District has been built and operated for nearly 20 years, so its infrastructure has begun to degrade. Therefore, it is difficult for the place to meet the requirements of commercial civilisation and food safety control work as well.

The market is overloaded with an average volume of goods of more than 400 tonnes/day, but meeting about 50-55% of the city's demand.

Besides, the traffic routes around the Hoa Cuong wholesale market mainly serve the needs of inner city traffic. However, there are more than 400 trucks of all kinds going in and out of the market for goods imports and exports daily, which has put great pressure on traffic infrastructure, affecting traffic safety for locals and market goers.

The limitation in infrastructure and business methods makes the Hoa Cuong wholesale market not fulfill its role to attract and concentrate a large amount of goods from regional production and business sources to continue distributing to markets and other channels in the city and neighbouring localities in the region.

On the other hand, the Hoa Cuong wholesale market has long been known as the main trading hub for vegetables, tubers and fruits. The Mieu Bong Market in Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District, is a wholesale market for poultry. The Da Nang Livestock and Poultry Processing Center (Da Son slaughterhouse, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward) specialises in trading cattle and poultry meat.

Therefore, the development of a large wholesale market to replace the Hoa Cuong wholesale market and act as a major focal point for trading in the above-mentioned items is an urgent requirement.

In November 2016, the municipal government issued Decision No. 7732/QD-UBND approving the 1/500 detailed plan to build a wholesale market for trading livestock, poultry and agricultural products in Hoa Phuoc Commune.

Once completed, the market will create push up the local socio-economic development, contributing to develop Hoa Vang District into a town by 2025, Chairman of the Hoa Phuoc Communal People’s Committee Tran Bui Quoc Binh.

To be a worthy wholesale market

A total of VND214.3 billion in funding from Da Nang government will go to the construction of the Hoa Phuoc Wholesale Market.

Of this figure, VND172 billion will be spent on the site clearance and compensation work, nearly VND33 billion will be poured into the market infrastructure development, and the remainder will be used for management and contingency work.

Developed and managed by the Da Nang Management Board of Industrial and Civil Engineering Construction and Investment Projects, the project will be carried out during the 2022-2023 period.

The 30.9ha market will feature an 18,760m2 parking area for about 30 containers and 50 large trucks. In addition, more than 10,498m2 will be earmarked for the construction of warehouses and product display booths, the development of logistics services, and more.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Van Tru highlighted the great significance of the Hoa Phuoc wholesale market project which will replace the existing Hoa Cuong wholesale market in promoting the development of trade, transshipment and distribution of goods; meeting the needs of people in the city and neighboring provinces; and supporting the consumption of agricultural products in Central Viet Nam.

Furthermore, this is also an opportunity to create an investment attraction environment for the commercial infrastructure in particular and the city's socio-economic development infrastructure in general.
