In early July, two direct air routes connecting Da Nang with Guangzhou and Hong Kong in China were resumed after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically, the Vietnam Airlines-operated charter flight No VN549, with 200 passengers on board, flew from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China to Da Nang International Airport on the evening of July 3.

This was the first charter flight from Guangzhou to Da Nang since the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to test and re-evaluate the post-pandemic tourist market.

According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, most of the passengers on the flight were representatives of Chinese travel agencies who wanted to conduct surveys on tourism products and services in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province in order to build product packages that suit the needs of guests.

On July 2, Viet Nam's private budget carrier Vietjet Air reopened a direct air route from Da Nang to Hong Kong.

The airline will operate four return flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on the route.

Vietjet Air is the second airline operating the Da Nang-Hong Kong air route. The Hong Kong Express put the Da Nang-Hong Kong air service into operation in December 2022 with a frequency of seven flights per week.
