A conference on investment, trade and tourism promotion in Da Nang and Shandong Province took place in Jinan City, Shandong Province, China on Wednesday.

The event was co-chaired by Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Shandong Province Wang Yihua.

It was attended by leaders of localities and agencies of Da Nang and Shandong Province, along with more than 100 delegates from associations, corporations and companies operating in many fields in provinces and cities of China, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Jinan and Yantai.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Deputy Secretary Triet said that since Da Nang and Shandong Province established the cooperation relationship in 1996, they have signed and effectively implemented many Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation in such aspects as culture, tourism, administrative reform, and urban planning and management.

Mr. Triet took the opportunity to call on Chinese enterprises, especially those in Shandong Province, to  invest and live in Da Nang. He pledged that the city will always create favourable conditions for Chinese investors in general and Shandong Province in particular to conduct investment and business activities in the city.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Shandong Province Wang Yihua emphasised that Shandong Province is willing to cooperate with Da Nang to constantly promote friendly relations, thereby contributing to the development of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China in the new era.

He, at the same time, proposed that the two localities continue to strengthen extensive cooperation in the fields of economic investment, trade, high-tech agriculture, tourism and cultural exchange.

At the conference, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Department Do Thi Quynh Tram introduced the city’s potential and investment opportunities to Chinese businesses and investors.

She emphasised that Da Nang is a locality with a strategic position in terms of politics and economy with distinct potentials, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages in foreign investment attraction, the socio-economic infrastructure system, and abundant and highly skilled workforce.

Furthermore, Da Nang has been focusing on implementing many synchronous solutions to improve the living environment and build the most favourable business environment for businesses and investors.

As of July 2023, the city has attracted 1,009 FDI projects with investment capital of more than US$4 billion, including 93 Chinese-invested projects totalling nearly US$118 million.

Da Nang hopes that Chinese businesses and investors will visit and seek investment opportunities in the fields of high-tech industry, information technology, supporting industries, health care, education, and others.

Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong said that Da Nang is targeting to develop sustainable tourism, with a focus on developing marine and eco-resort tourism products; urban tourism associated with shopping, entertainment, golf tourism, conference tourism; seminars and international festival events; and historical cultural tourism imbued with local cultural identity, in a bid to provide a complete experience and meet the expectations of visitors.

Mr. Vuong hoped that the resumption of the air route network will boost tourism between the two countries in the time to come.

During the conference, representatives of the International Trade Promotion Committee and the Department of Tourism of Shandong Province gave an introduction about trade and tourism cooperation opportunities between the two localities.

A representative of the Yingfeng Company specialising in conducting research and developing smart warehouse and logistics robot systems said that it was interested in investing in production facilities and developing new robot production lines in Viet Nam. In particular, the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park with attractive investment support and preferential policies was one of the potential investment locations.

Participating tourism businesses proposed the idea of ​​opening the Da Nang – Shandong Province route and expected the conference to be a premise for the promotion of this route in the future.

The Da Nang - Shandong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference opened up new opportunities for Vietnamese and Chinese businesses in general, and Da Nang and Shandong in particular, to further strengthen exchange activities and cooperation in the fields of investment and trade.
