The consumer price index (CPI) in October decreased by 0.01% from the last month and increased by 3.63% from a year earlier, the Da Nang Statistics Office reported on Monday.

On average, in 10 months, CPI went up 5.52% compared to the average of the same period in 2022.

In October, five out of the 11 groups of main consumer goods and services witnessed price decreases, one remained stable price, and the remaining five saw rises.

The highest increase of 0.38% was seen in housing, electricity and water, fuel and construction materials. Other groups with price hikes included food and beverage services (0.31%); garments, hats and footwear (0.12%); household appliances and equipment (0.09%); and medicines and medical services (0.03%).

Meanwhile, groups with falling prices included traffic (1.55%); post and telecommunication (1.01%); beverages and tobacco (0.17%); culture, entertainment and tourism (0.16%); and other goods and services (0.03%).

The CPI of the remaining education group remained stable compared to the previous month.

The fall in October CPI was mainly attributed to the decrease in the prices of some groups and in construction demand.

Besides, the city witnessed a decline in the number of visitors due to recent heavy and prolonged rainfall, so hotels reduced prices to increase their competitiveness.
