The Da Nang Department of Planning and Investment has just made adjustments to the project on build a plant that treats solid waste to generate electricity at the Khanh Son Landfill in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District.

The goal of the project is to treat domestic solid waste, regular industrial solid waste, special waste, and burnable hazardous waste by modern waste-to-power generation technology.

The focus is on using recycled materials from the factory to make construction materials; produce unburnt block bricks and concrete structures; and recycle waste lubricant oil and waste rubber into PO and RO fuel oil.

The project is expected to cost VND2,021 billion. Of the figure, the capital contributed to implement the project is VND404.2 billion, whilst the remainder is mobilised from credit institutions.

The construction licensing procedures will be implemented within 12 months. Meanwhile, time taken for equipment installation will be 20 months from the date of issuance of the construction permit.

The project is expected to be put into use is the third quarter of 2026.

Mr. Vo Nguyen Chuong said that the plant's furnace technology is a German mechanical furnace.

The plant's technology appraisal agency is the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The city is urging the Viet Nam Environment JSC to implement a series of measures to carry out the project soon. Included will be preparing detailed planning at a scale of 1:500, and environmental documents, and handling high static levels.

Recently, the Da Nang government has approved plans to build a domestic solid waste treatment plant with daily capacity of 1,000 tonnes under the public-private partnership (PPP) format at the Khanh Son solid waste treatment complex.
