Da Nang named top travel destination for Indians, Skyscanner reveals

Da Nang has emerged as the top travel destination in 2024 for Indians, according to data released by global travel site Skyscanner.

Skyscanner has seen a 1.141% increase in searches from India to Da Nang, and the city’s search result has hit its highest level in recent years.

The 2024 report reveals that the most buzzing destination for Indian travellers in 2024 is Da Nang in Viet Nam, loved for its pristine beaches, followed by Almaty in Kazakhstan, a captivating destination in Central Asia celebrated for its stunning natural scenes, and Baku in Azerbaijan, known for its exquisite blend of historical and modern architecture.

Osaka in Japan came fourth in Skyscanner’s 10 trending destinations for Indian travellers,  and Ha Noi, the capital of Viet Nam took fifth place.

Da Nang has been most preferred by Indians as it boasts advantages for marine tourism while it features pleasant weather conditions suited to the preferences of Indian tourists. Besides, Da Nang is now home to numerous delicious seafood restaurants which can accommodate 100 to 300 guests each, along with more than 30 Muslim-friendly restaurants offering Halal dishes. Furthermore, the favorite shopping places of Indian tourists while visiting Da Nang are Han and Con traditional markets.

For travel trends, Skyscanner revealed that Indians pay great attention to short-distance holiday destinations with beaches to relax and enjoy the sun. Da Nang was the number one travel destination on Indian users' minds in 2024 as the Vietnamese central city saw the most searches starting with 'holidays in', loved for its beautiful beaches. Krabi (Thailand) came in second and Mahe Island (Seychelles) took third place.

Besides, the three factors that greatly influence Indian tourists' choice of destination for their 2024 vacation are cuisine (71%), weather (65%), and destination cultural experience ( 65%). Among them, shopping (49%), historical tours (45%) and tasting local dishes (38%) are the three most interested cultural experiences.

Indian travellers increasingly want to celebrate big milestones in style. 81% of Indian travellers have taken a group trip to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. That being said, it can be tricky to arrange group travel – from deciding on where and when to go, to agreeing on costs. 52% of Indian travellers said that finalising a destination is their primary hurdle when planning group trips, followed by deciding on the travel dates (48%), and agreeing on the expected costs of the trip (45%).
