Retail sales of goods, consumer service revenue up by 18.6% in 10 months

According to the Da Nang Statistics Department, in October 2023, socio-economic activities in the city continue to be stable and show signs of gradual recovery. Trade and service activities continued to be promoted with many demand stimulation, connection and trade promotion programmes.

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in October 2023 reached VND 10,624 billion, an increase of 13.2% over the same period in 2022.

Generally for the first 10 months of 2023, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue hit VND105,594 billion, up 18.6% over the same period. Of this, the retail sales of goods in October were valued at VND 5,903 billion, up 7.3% from the same period last year.

In the first 10 months of 2023, total retail sales of goods reached VND 56,728 billion, up 7.0% over the same period last year, of which nine out of the 12 commodity groups increased revenue compared to the same period in 2022, especially some groups have had quite high revenue increases.

In the field of tourism, in October 2023, revenue from accommodation and food services was valued at VND 1,829 billion, up by 30.7% compared to the same month in 2022. In particular, revenue from accommodation services stood at VND 741 billion, a hike of 39.7% over the same period.

The food service revenue reached VND 1,087 billion, up 25.2% over the same period. Overall, for the first 10 months of 2023, revenue from accommodation and food services climbed by 36.8% over the same period in 2022 to hit VND 19,073 billion.

Of this, revenue from accommodation services went by 60.6% to reach VND 8,217 billion. Food service revenue rose by 23.1% from the year-ago period to hit VND 10,856 billion.

The number of guests served by accommodation establishments in October 2023 reached 607,000, a decrease of 1.2% compared to last month and increased by 91.5% over the same month in 2022.

In particular, the city welcomed 146,000 international visitors, down 14.7% over the previous month and up 153.3% over the same month in 2022. The number of domestic tourists reached 461,000, down 5.7% over the previous month and up 83.5% over the same month in 2022.

Overall, in the 10 months of 2023, the total number of visitors served by accommodation establishments reached nearly 6.4 million, a rise of 96.6% from the same period in 2022.

International visitor numbers reached 1.7 million, an increase of 153.3% over the same period last year whilst domestic visitor numbers reached more than 4.6 million, up by 83.5%.

The average number of days of stay for overnight guests in 10 months was 1.75 days/visit, 2.34 days/visit recorded by international visitors and 2.34 days/visit for domestic tourists.
