Hosted by the municipal Department of Tourism, the event was attended by representatives from travel firms, accommodation establishments, tourist attractions, transport service providers and restaurants, along with tour guides across the city.

Participants in the programme were shared information related to the Muslim tourist market, including the needs and tastes of customers, and how to develop products to serve the market, by Mr. Subhash Chandar, General Director of the Asia DMC Company - a leading unit in exploiting and serving the Halal tourism market.

Also, they were provided with experience in understanding psychology, and service skills, to satisfy customer needs.

According to the municipal Department of Tourism, India is among top 10 international tourist markets to Da Nang in addition to such traditional tourist markets as South Korea, Taiwan (China), Thailand, the US, and Australia.

There are an estimated 1.57 billion Muslims (nearly a quarter of the world's total population), and more than 60% of the global Muslim population are living in Asia. India is home to about 137.7 million Muslims.

The number of Muslims in Southeast Asian countries accounts for about 16% of the global Muslim population, so this is a very potential tourist market.

Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh said that, in recent times, the city has been focusing on implementing many strong promotion and communication activities to restore markets, especially attracting more tourists from Muslim countries (Halal tourists) through organising tourism introduction programmes in India and Southeast Asian countries, and welcoming famtrips and presstrips to Da Nang to survey tourism products and services.

Since October 2022, the opening of the first two direct flights, operated by Vietjet Air, from India's two largest and most important cities, Mumbai and New Delhi, to Da Nang has been a favourable premise to connect passenger sources to the city.

Next month, the flight from Cebu in the Philippines to Da Nang will be opened, promising to open up many potentials to welcome many new tourist markets.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh hoped that through the sharing programme, tourism service providers citywide can build appropriate products to meet the needs and tastes of Muslim consumers. This will be the premise for Da Nang to prepare good conditions, ready to effectively serve the Halal customer market in the coming time.
