Approval given for eco-subdivision planning project west of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward

The Da Nang People’s Committee has just issued a decision approving the western ecological subdivision planning project in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac Ward.

The 3,822 ha subdivision will border Thua Thien Hue Province to the north, the mountainous area of the Hai Van Pass to the west, the Da Nang Bay to the east, and the soon-to-be-developed Lien Chieu Port to the south.

The subdivision will have a population of about 19,000 people, of which the official population is about 18,000 people and the temporary population is about 1,000 people.

It will fully feature such social and technical infrastructure as healthcare, education, culture, transportation, water and electricity supply systems, and wastewater drainage.

The western ecological subdivision planning project in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward will have 9 functional areas. They will be a 115ha housing planning area combined with services and commerce with a population of 9,740 people; a 63.5ha industrial park; a 6.4ha tourist area; a 30.3ha defence zone; an area of 3,035ha for special-use forest, protection forest, production forest, relics, religion and technical infrastructure; a 150.8ha special-use forest; and three mixed tourism, commercial and residential areas including the 103.1ha  A area with a population of 1,740 people, the 155 ha B area with 5,990 people, and the 162ha C area with 1,530 people.

The ecological subdivision in the west of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward will feature a system of economic and social infrastructure.

In particular, the social housing area will be located on the east side of the southern bypass of the Hai Van Tunnel with a total area of about 20.7ha.

For housing groups are concentrated in the area along Luong Stream, the total area of housing groups is about 38.9 ha, whilst that of mixed housing and services groups is 62 ha.

According to the subdivision planning project, there will be two unit-level medical facilities with a total area of about 0.2ha (0.1ha/per facility).

Also, about 6.3 ha will be earmarked for educational projects. Included will be a senior high school, 3 inter-level schools, a primary school, and 6 preschools.

The total area of land with cultural functions will be about 1.1 ha, and land with sports function nearly 2.0ha.

Around 17.8ha will be spent for a system of service areas (excluding tourism services.

About 167.2 ha will be used for eco-tourism activities, with priority given to the construction of service and commercial complexes, and developing eco-tourism in areas of low accommodation density associated with nature conservation. The area for industrial production is about 22ha.

According to the planning project, priority investment items include the Lang Van resort and entertainment complex; the Lien Chieu Industrial Park; and other tourism, culture and heritage projects.
