Increase in production
Recently, a bustling production atmosphere has been recorded at the Ba Lieu Me 'banh kho me' (dried sesame seed cakes) production facility, based in Cam Le District’s Hoa Thuan Dong Ward.
This time is the "peak" period of Tet production, so the facility begins operating with the raw production stages from early morning.
Mr. Huynh Duc Sol, the owner of the Ba Lieu Me production facility, said that the number of orders during Tet increased by 30% compared to normal days during this period, so the facility was rushing production to meet the delivery schedule to customers.
He added that, his facility will supply about 400,000 products to the market, including traditional dried sesame seed cakes, and toasted coconut cakes, with prices ranging from VND30,000-90,000/product.
To meet the high demand from customers, the facility has already recruited 10 additional seasonal workers and increased working hours.
In Lien Chieu District, the Hong Huong Fish Sauce Company Limited is busy preparing about 8,000 liters of fish sauce for Tet markets.
Thanks to its delicious, unique flavour, the Huong Lang Co fish sauce product is one of the prestigious and quality OCOP products that win the trust of many customers and are chosen as Tet gifts.
Mr. Bui Thanh Phu, the company representative, informed that due to a surge in year-end shopping demand, the company has started making Tet products since the beginning of the 10th lunar month.
According to Mr. Phu, the premium fish sauce product that is incubated for 2 years is a popular item among customers during the upcoming Tet holiday.
“We are promoting products on e-commerce platforms and fanpages, as well as working with KOCs (Key Opinion Consumers) on Tiktok to bring products closer to consumers" Mr. Phu shared.
Similarly, Ho Thi Thuy Tram’s business household, located in Hai Chau 1 Ward, Hai Chau District, plans to provide the Tet market with 1-1.2 tonnes of Minkai fresh sausages, up about 70% against normal days. Minkai fresh sausages are certificated as 4-star OCOPs and with ISO certification.
The facility is also equipped with 3 freezers with a capacity of 800 liters for storage. On average, each day, the facility produces 50-100kiloes of fresh sausages.
According to Mrs. Tram, current purchasing power is not vibrant and bustling because there is around one month left until Tet.
As usual every year, the demand for sausages will increase from the 15th day of the 12 lunar month to Tet. Therefore, the facility is always ready to produce to ensure the amount of goods to serve the needs of the people.
Although production costs increase, the facility still keeps the selling price the same as usual at about VND140,000 /500gr package.
Suitable for customers’ needs and tastes
Aside from increasing production productivity, OCOP production facilities also actively change product designs and forms to suit the Lunar New Year atmosphere and needs and tastes of customers.
Mr. Huynh Duc Sol said that in addition to new products, the facility has changed packaging and prepared gift bags specifically for Tet in order to serve the gift-buying needs of units and businesses.
Accordingly, the gift bags are all eye-catchingly designed with the main image of the mascot of the Year of the Dragon 2024, symbolising prosperity and bringing goodness and luck in the Lunar New Year.
The medium-sized gift bags contain 8 products each, whilst the large-sized ones have 10 products each. They are being sold at the prices of between VND380,000 and VND800,000 per bag depending on size. Also, there are gift boxes, valued at about VND2.2 million each, for those in need.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Khiem, Deputy Director of the Vinseed Biotechnology Co., Ltd. in Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, said that, the company has made major adjustments in preparing and adjusting Tet gift sets due to difficult economic situation.
Accordingly, the company has designed gift sets, ranging from VND300,000 to VND600,000 each, instead of high-end gift sets priced from VND800,000 or more like every year.
Also, it has added new affordable products such as Cordyceps ginger jam, and Cordyceps forest bitter melon tea in order to better suit people's spending levels.
It is expected that the company's product output will increase by 20-30% compared to last year's.
“We are focusing on researching and producing new healthy products that are reasonable. During this Tet holiday, the company introduces its new product "Cam Le Chi - Cordyceps forest bitter melon" to the market and register to participate in the OCOP programme in 2024," Mr. Khiem informed.
