Da Nang continues to remove difficulties for businesses in 2024

The Da Nang People’s Committee held a get-together on Friday for businesses and investors 2024 in the city.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the city's businesses have continuously developed and improved in terms of capital, revenue, profit and labour efficiency. A total of 38,768 businesses, branches and representative offices operating in the city have demonstrated their role as a key force in managing and organising production resources, and creating goods and services, in order to promote the city’s growth.

He added, the city identified the "health" of businesses and investors as the leading factor for the development. Specially, he highlighted the importance of the internal strength of businesses in ensuring the effective promotion of external resources, and creating a great aggregate resource for the local socio-economic development.

Chairman Chinh emphasised that the event provided the good opportunity for the city leaders to promptly encourage, share difficulties and recognise the efforts of businesses, investors and ongoing projects inside and outside industrial parks.

At the same time, it was a chance for them to directly listen to the thoughts and shares as well as the difficulties and problems that investors encounter during their operations in the city.

As of December 30, 2023, the city had issued and adjusted investment policy decisions and registration certificates for 57 projects totalling more than VND58,172 billion. It had attracted US$202.6 million in FDI. Of which, 110 new projects, with a total of registered capital of US$171.4 million, were granted with investment registration certificates.

Accumulated to date, the city has attracted 1,017 FDI projects totalling over US$4.25 billion. Among them are 374 domestic projects outside industrial parks with a total investment capital of VND195,000 billion, and 399 domestic projects inside industrial parks with investment capital of VND32,916 billion.

The city determined that 2024 is the year it needs to create a breakthrough to complete the 5-year plan for the 2021-2025 period, Mr. Chinh added.

He, therefore, revealed that the city will concentrate on well implementing its Prime Minister-approved planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050; Decision No.359 of the Prime Minister approving the adjustment of its master plan to 2030 with a vision to 2045; and completing the approval of 9/9 urban subdivisions, and 7/10 functional area construction subdivisions.

In addition, the city will lay an emphasis on completing the selection of investors and deploying the infrastructure construction of the Hoa Cam Industrial Park phase 2; urging the completion of procedures for submitting and asking for approval of the Prime Minister for the implementation of the Hoa Ninh Industrial Park project; removing obstacles in the Hoa Cam Industrial Park expansion project phase 1; adjusting the planning of the High-Tech Park while waiting for related legal procedures; and speeding up procedures for calling for investment to develop technical infrastructure at some industrial clusters.

On the other hand, dialogues and meetings between the city leaders and businesses will be regularly organised in order to resolve difficulties, as well as seek solutions to improve component indices of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and attract more investment flows into the city, especially in industrial clusters, industrial parks, and High-Tech Park.

Giving his closing speech at the event, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary and People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet asked the People's Committee to review business support policies, and complete the planning of functional subdivision to remove bottlenecks and adjust unreasonable points.
