About a month before Tet, chrysanthemum growers in Da Nang are busy recruiting seasonal workers to promptly supply flowers to the Tet market. Seasonal workers are mostly freelancers, students, and underemployed workers.

The average wage for each worker ranges from VND160,000 - VND200,000/8 hours/day depending on the subject and level of work completion. Wages can increase to VND300,000/day near Tet.

Mrs. Luong Thi Ha, the owner of a flower garden in Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, said that this year she planted 3,000 pots of chrysanthemums. In January 2024, she began recruiting seasonal workers to care for and prune branches and leaves, aiming to ensure that their flowers bloom on time and meet increasing demand when the Tet holiday arrives.

On average every day, Mrs. Ha's garden recruits 15-20 seasonal workers, even up to 30 people at the peak of the Tet flower season.

Every year, the majority of seasonal workers are students. However, this year, seasonal workers at the garden are mainly underemployed workers. They are in charge of cutting off dead leaves, pruning branches and picking buds.

Meanwhile, bustling working atmosphere has been recorded at Mr. Nguyen Quang Son's flower garden in Hoa Cuong Bac Ward, Hai Chau District over the past few days. Whether it's sunny or rainy, dozens of seasonal workers still work to keep up with the schedule of supplying flowers to the Tet market.

According to Mr. Son, the job requires carefulness and diligence. In the process of working together, he himself also created comfort and happiness for the workers. Therefore, many seasonal workers have worked with him through many Tet flower crops.
