Speaking at the event, Chairman Le Quang Huy informed that geological and mineral resources were important resources for the country's socio-economic development, and at the same time they are a long-term national reserve.

Therefore, geological and mineral resources need to be fully planned, investigated, explored, and managed in a centralised and unified manner.

In addition, minerals are non-renewable resources, so the exploitation and use of these resources must be done reasonably, economically, and effectively in a bid to meet the country's development needs in the immediate and long term.

He also pointed out the inadequacies of the provisions of the current Mineral Law. Therefore, he stressed the necessity to review and amend the law to ensure the consistency of the legal system.

On the afternoon of the same day, delegates gave their opinions on examining the Government's reports on the implementation of Resolution No. 93/2019/QH14 of the National Assembly related to investment policy of Ka Pet Reservoir project, Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province and Resolution No. 101/2023/QH15 on investment policy adjustment for the Ka Pet Reservoir project.

At the same time, they gave opinions on verifying the Government's report on the implementation of Resolution 135/2020/QH14 on converting forest use purposes to implement the Ban Mong Reservoir project in Nghe An Province and the Song Than Reservoir project in Ninh Thuan Province.
