SEAISI Conference & Exhibition 2024 is taking place in Da Nang from May 13 to 16, 2024 with the attendance of more than 500 delegates from the association of Southeast Asian countries.
The theme of this year's event series is "Surviving and thriving in the decarbonized world”" because steel is one of the world's three major greenhouse gas emission industries.
With an important role in the global economy, the steel industry needs to find methods and technical solutions to survive and thrive in a carbon-neutral world. The application of new, innovative technical advances in the steel industry will also play an important role in adapting to climate change, keeping global average temperatures from rising beyond 1.5°C by 2100.
Addressing the opening session, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong expressed his excitement when VSA and SEAISI chose Da Nang as the place for the organisation of this series of events.
The event series aims provide an ideal platform for representatives from various nations to share technologies and innovations towards green and circular economic development.
It serves as a forum to provide and exchange multi-dimensional information and update information on Vietnamese, regional and international regulations, policies and laws to help steel producers do business and make development strides in accordance with the country's and international green growth strategies.
In particular, the theme of this year's event series also shows the deep interest of Da Nang in the process of green construction and development. Da Nang has exerted great efforts on environmental protection for sustainable development and on track to become a green, smart city.
The city has constantly taken drastic measures to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of renewable energy sources to protect the environment.

Vice Chairman Cuong requested that State management agencies and local governments pay attention to creating conditions for VSA and the steel manufacturing business community to effectively implement green transformation, contributing to achieving national goals on environment and climate.
According to VSA Chairman Nghiem Xuan Da, in the current global greening trend, countries' committed efforts to achieve net zero emissions and international cooperation are bringing about major transformation in industries that use steel. These transitions will generate demand for green steel.
To meet this demand, the steel industry must quickly transform by applying the latest metallurgical technologies to reduce carbon emissions.
At the same time, it is also a need apply advances in information technology for digital transformation, as well as artificial intelligence to smart factories to optimize production and reduce emissions.
