Western ring road opened to traffic in Da Nang

The western ring road with a section connecting National Highway 14B to Ho Chi Minh Road was officially opened to traffic on Monday.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh emphasised that along with the southern ring road (Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street), the western ring road was part of strategic orientation for the development of the city's transport infrastructure.

He also highlighted the importance of the completed route in connecting the ring road system in the city, and at the same time, promoting the traffic network connection between Da Nang and Central and Central Highlands localities through National Highway 1A, National Highway 14B, Ho Chi Minh Road and the city's horizontal road system.

He affirmed that the Lien Chieu Seaport and the western ring road projects were opening up new driving forces for the socio-economic development in the western part of Da Nang, significantly changing the face of traffic in Hoa Vang District.

The city leader requested the investor to urgently review the entire project to complete the remaining items, with a focus on the reinforcement and stabilisation of roadbed slopes, and the traffic rearrangement. The purpose was to hand over the project in accordance with regulations for convenient and safe operation and exploitation.

The investor asked the contractor and design consultant to continue handling the landslide area (section Km5-Km6), as well as coordinate with the People's Committee of Hoa Vang District to propose a thorough treatment plan to both ensure long-term stability for the project and effectively use the land source for public investment projects.

According to the Management Board of Traffic Work Construction Investment Projects, work started on a section of the western ring road connecting National Highway 14B to Ho Chi Minh Road on October 4, 2018. The project has a total investment of nearly VND1,500 billion, of which construction cost was VND670,733 billion, and site clearance cost was VND396.061 billion.

The section has a length of more than 19 km with the starting point intersecting with National Highway 14B, the ending point (Km19 + 177.30) connecting to the main road leading to the Central Information Technology Park, and a design speed of 60km/h.
